The drive to the airport was filled with silence, I was blanked out staring into space. Liam seemed to notice my disconnection from reality and then he wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me closer to him.
"Are you still thinking about that note?" He asked.
I faced him, "how can I not? Whoever is trying to kill me knows that I'm leaving the country, I'm scared Liam."
He planted a soft kiss against my forehead which seemed to calm me down a little. "I'm here and I won't let anything for anyone get to you okay? You have nothing to worry about."
I rested my head against his shoulders, I really hoped he was right and that I had nothing to worry about.
Until we arrived at the airport I couldn't help but think about my sister. I wished there was a way I could tell her that I was leaving but it would be dangerous. I could potentially put her in harm's way too.
A part of me still felt a bit nervous but I took a deep breath, ready to face the new chapter of my life.
It was a long flight to France, and for the most part I was sleeping in the plane. When we arrived, Liam had already arranged for a driver that would come pick us up from the airport.
I still had my passport in my hand, and I couldn't help but look at the new name. Bianca Black.
He had noticed me staring at the passport and he held my hand. "Everything is going to be alright, I assure you."
Small smile crept upon my face, it felt good to have somebody stand by me at this time in my life.
We got to what was supposed to be our new home. It was a sleek modern mansion that was close to a lake. I could tell that the morning view would be great.
It was more neighborhood, and frankly it resembled an estate. There were lots of trees around and the ambience was just calm.
The driver helped us to unpack our things and then Liam finally brought out the house key and opened the door.
Something about this place felt oddly comforting; it felt like… home.
The interior decor was great and very much to my taste, hard and expensive but yet simple minimalist touch. As we walked in with all bags I could have helped but scan the place with my eyes.
From the entrance there was a hallway which led to the sitting room and the dining area, the house was large. "Welcome to our new home," Liam said, spreading his arms apart as though he was proud of his work.
I pulled him into a tight embrace, overwhelmed by happiness. "It looks really great." When I pulled away from the hub I couldn't help but go explore the rest of the house.
Each step I took echoed against the empty space and I was still marveling at the decor.
When I was done exploring, I went downstairs to help Liam to arrange some of our things. However, he insisted that I go get some rest since I was pregnant and that he would handle everything.
"You know it's called pregnancy not sickness," I challenged.
He held my waist and pulled me closer to him and then planted a small kiss from my lips, "you should go rest okay, I got things here."
I plopped down on the couch, watching him move things upstairs.
Ding dong!
It was the sound of the doorbell ringing. I first locked eyes with him, "are you expecting anyone?" I asked.
He shook his head. My heart immediately skipped a beat as my mind went back to the note I'd received. They couldn't have possibly followed me here, right?
I swallowed, paranoia getting the best of me as my palms grew sweaty. "Stay here, I'll go check it out."
He peeped through the eyehole and then opened the door, revealing two people standing outside with a tray in their hands.
I let out the breath I didn't even realize I was holding. And Liam shot a knowing smile my way.
They were wearing matching tops, so I assumed it was a couple. "Hello, good evening, I'm Mitchell and this is Collins, we're your neighbors and our house is just over there, opposite yours," the woman said with a warm smile, pointing at their house.
I was right, there are a couple.
"I'm Liam and that's my wife Bianca," he replied, gesturing inwards with his arms.
"It's lovely to meet you," Michelle said and then her husband spoke.
"We saw the lights on and we knew for sure that you guys had moved in, so we brought some cookies to say hi, can we come in?" He raised the tray up so we could see them properly.
My mouth had immediately begun to water, it's been a while since I had some cookies anyway.
Liam stepped aside, "sure but we just moved in so everywhere is a bit messy I haven't fully unpacked."
"Oh, of course, we understand. That's not a problem," Collins replied.
The two of them entered the house and their eyes immediately met mine. "Oh my I must say, your wife is really pretty," Michelle 'whispered' to Liam.
I got on my feet and shook hands with them and then received the cookie tray. They generally seem like nice people, and I liked them already.
We all sat at the dining table, Collins and Michelle on one side while Liam and I took the other side.
"I can't express how great it is to finally have some new neighbors, this place is so boring and filled with retirees. The only time we get some activities around here is during the holidays, especially long ones like Christmas," Michelle said.
I chuckled, "wow, then I guess it must be great that you guys are here because I can't imagine being the only one around my age living here."
"You can't imagine!"
"I hope you guys are open to game nights because Michelle and I usually organize one heck of a game night."
Liam shared the look with me, "count us in."
Michelle shifted excitedly on her seat and clapped her hands.
As the conversation progressed, we became more free with each other.
Michelle turned head around as though she was looking for something and then faced me, "do you guys have any kids?"
My smile twitched and I didn't know how Liam would take it, he did say he will take my baby as his own but a part of me was still filled with doubt.
"Well we do, my wife is pregnant with our baby," Liam said.
Our.
My insides warmed up as he spoke about the baby. He left me feeling reassured that he wasn't joking when he said he'd take the child as his.
"Oh my gosh that's so great, playmates for Anna and Roxy are on the way," Michelle squealed.
"Anna and Roxy are your kids?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Only girls we have," Collins replied proudly. "Anna is four and Roxy's two. Anna is about to start school next session."
"That's wonderful to hear."
Do you spend some more time with us before they finally got up, stating that it was time to leave. "I'm sorry but we have to leave now before Anna and Roxy turn the house upside down."
"I understand, see you around, probably on game night," I said.
We all laughed and then they left. "You know, I need to ask Michelle for the recipe for these cupcakes, they're amazing!" I said to Liam with a mouthful of cookies.
He only laughed and watched as I devoured them.

Liam and I walked hand in hand into the hospital, it had been a few weeks and I was curious to know the gender of my baby. Sorry, I mean our baby.
He kissed me on the forehead, "why are you nervous? there's nothing to worry about."
"Well this is my first time so I don't really know what to expect."
"It's my first time too."
Right.
The door clicked open and a woman walked out of the office, "Mr and Mrs Black?"
We go up. "Please come in." When we entered her office, she guided me towards a bed by the corner which I mounted.
She put some gel on my belly and began to roll the scanner against my skin.
Her eyes were fixed on the screen and her facial expression was hard to read, which got me worried.
"Doctor, what is it?" I asked, growing impatient.
She sighed and then put the scanner down, "congratulations, you're having twins."
Liam and I shared an excited look. "I can't believe it!" I squealed happily.
She got up from her seat, "As for their gender, you have one boy and one girl."
Her voice sounded like there was something wrong and I couldn't help but notice it.
"But then there seems to be a problem, the heartbeat of one of your twins is… irregular."
