Capítulo 29: Chapter 29 (edited)

In the blink of an eye, Kara was already twenty-seven years old. Since graduating from university at the age of twenty-four, she hadn't rushed home or pursued a job in the city. Instead, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery.

By the time Kara began her travels, Bruce had already been wandering the world for three years.

When Kara finally spent nearly three years exploring, Bruce had been away for a total of six years.

During her journey, Kara heard that Bruce had found another mentor and joined an enigmatic group called the League of Shadows.

Kara and Bruce had exchanged phone numbers when their paths crossed during their travels. Bruce had helped her on several occasions, and their bond had grown strong.

Over the years, Bruce had mastered nearly every martial art in the world. He shared stories of the places he'd trained and encouraged Kara to consider similar apprenticeships.

Though close friends, Kara had little interest in joining the League of Shadows. On one call, she confided in Bruce that her travels had lasted long enough—it was time to go home.

After all, if she stayed away any longer, her adoptive parents would surely go mad with worry.

Kara rarely returned home during her university years and had now spent years wandering far from their sight. Her family's concerns were understandable.

Of course, their fears were misplaced. With Kara's incredible strength and near-invulnerability—qualities that could rival Superman himself—it was almost impossible for anyone to harm her.

Unless it was him.

Do you think Kara was referring to the Joker or someone like Lex Luthor?

Wrong. She was talking about Bruce—the future Batman himself.

Many believe Superman's greatest foes are Doomsday, Darkseid, or even some of his Justice League allies. Yet the only one capable of defeating Superman with nothing but a mortal body is Bruce Wayne.

Doomsday may have killed Superman, but he fell in the process.

Darkseid? Time and again, Superman and the Justice League thwarted his schemes.

But Bruce? With his tactical brilliance, warehouses of kryptonite, and a knack for targeting allies in their weakest moments, he could overcome nearly anyone.

Kara often joked to herself that if Bruce kept stockpiling kryptonite, she might have to teach him a lesson one day.

This was Bruce's specialty—studying his teammates thoroughly and striking hard when it mattered most. He rarely had such opportunities against his enemies.

After all, why else would someone without superpowers hold a leadership role in the Justice League?

As Kara thought about this, her determination to return home solidified. It was finally time.

Her travels had changed her. Kara, once brash and impulsive, had matured significantly.

She tied her silver-white hair into a neat ponytail, threw on a casual sweater, and slipped into well-worn jeans. Only her sneakers looked relatively clean; after all, she could float above muddy ground if needed.

Kara also wore glasses, as though they could disguise her striking ruby-red eyes and radiant features. Surprisingly, her unassuming appearance spared her from attracting too much trouble.

That isn't to say she avoided all issues. God only knows how many shady individuals mysteriously disappeared during her travels.

Whenever trouble grew too tedious, Kara simply moved on.

Finally, Kara stood on the familiar soil of her hometown. Seeing the lush farmland stretching before her, she felt a surge of emotion. Closing her eyes, she breathed deeply, taking in the scents and sounds of home.

The voices of her family floated through the house ahead—her parents and brother were all there.

A smile spread across Kara's face as she walked briskly toward the house.

When she suddenly opened the door, her family was startled—but their shock quickly turned to joy.

Kara's appearance was slightly disheveled after years of wandering. She carried a travel-worn bag over her shoulder, looking more like a laborer returning home than a proud graduate of a prestigious university.

"Kara?" Martha's voice trembled with emotion. Tears welled in her eyes as she rushed forward. "You're finally back!"

Kara's heart swelled. She smiled warmly and embraced her adoptive mother tightly.

In these years apart, Kara had grown to an impressive height of 6'2". Her presence exuded confidence and calm, earning Jonathan's quiet approval.

He had planned to scold her for running off without notice—leaving her family to worry endlessly while she traveled to places like Antarctica, the North Pole, and even Mount Everest.

But seeing the composed young woman before him, he decided to let it go.

"Sister?" a hesitant voice interrupted the reunion.

Kara turned and saw Clark.

No longer a child, her little brother was now a seventeen-year-old young man. Though still shorter than Kara at 5'7", he was growing fast and showed signs he might surpass her height someday.

Clark had matured into a handsome teen, though his expression now was a mix of awkwardness and hesitation.

When Kara left home, Clark had been just eight years old. Even during her university years, their time together was limited.

Still, Kara didn't hesitate. She dropped her bag and strode forward, pulling Clark into a hug.

Clark squirmed uncomfortably, but his sister's strength left him no choice but to endure.

"Clark, you've grown so much!" Kara ruffled his hair playfully before stepping back. She grinned. "So, do you have a girlfriend yet?"

Martha lightly swatted Kara on the back. "Don't put ideas in his head. He's still just a boy!"

Kara rolled her eyes but didn't argue. She knew the world well enough to realize most kids Clark's age were already experiencing their first loves.

Still, she thought with amusement of Clark's inevitable connection to Lois Lane. Some things seemed destined.

"Speaking of which," Kara said, "Why are you home today? Shouldn't you be at school? Or did you somehow sense I was coming back?"

Jonathan and Martha exchanged uneasy glances before Jonathan answered, "He got into some trouble."
