Capítulo 26: Chapter 26 (edited)

From this day on, Kara officially became a student at Gotham Metropolitan University, and Bruce Wayne also ended up as her classmate.

When Jennifer Walters found out about it, she confronted Kara, asking her seriously if she had any feelings for Bruce.

Kara responded candidly, "I don't like him that way at all."

However, she couldn't deny that if she could somehow confirm he was Batman, she might want to collect a few Bat-gadgets, like a Batarang, the Batmobile, or even his iconic motorcycle. She fantasized briefly about owning a Batmobile but quickly dismissed the thought.

Relieved by her response, Jennifer began visiting Kara's classroom regularly under the pretense of looking for her, but it was obvious her real interest was in Bruce.

It didn't take long for Jennifer to realize Bruce wasn't paying much attention to anyone, including Kara. His greetings were polite yet distant, showing no particular interest in either woman.

"Maybe he's already interested in someone else?" Dani Moonstar speculated one afternoon during lunch.

Kara didn't participate in these speculations. Her focus was elsewhere. She was engrossed in reading an elective textbook on astronomy. The section she was reading covered fixed stars, particularly the sun.

The book fascinated her because it explored the relationship between fixed stars and solar radiation, the very source of her Kryptonian abilities.

The sun was merely one of billions of stars in the Milky Way, and the book described stars far brighter and more powerful than the sun. For instance, Eta Carinae, which outshines the sun by over four million times, and the Peony Nebula Star, with a luminosity more than three million times that of the sun.

Kara began theorizing. If her powers came from sunlight, would more intense stellar radiation amplify her abilities? Unfortunately, she knew from experience that moonlight, a reflection of sunlight, had no such effect. In fact, her strength seemed to wane at night.

She also made a mental note about the danger posed by red stars, whose light could weaken her Kryptonian physiology. Kara decided to avoid regions of space dominated by such stars if she ever had the chance to venture beyond Earth.

After finishing her book, Kara stood up. "I'm heading to my club activities. Want to come along?"

"You have club activities?" Dani asked, puzzled. "Don't you have classes this afternoon?"

"I've already completed all the required courses for my first year," Kara replied nonchalantly. "My professors let me focus on electives and personal interests now. I'm thinking of taking an astronomy class. Oh, and I've already applied to join the school newspaper."

Dani and Jennifer stared at her in shock, marveling at her academic prowess.

Kara left them behind and headed to her newest club, the university's newspaper. She had joined partly because of her interest in journalism and partly because of Perry White, the team leader of the club. Perry, a senior, was a well-known figure on campus due to his work on the school newspaper.

If her memory served her right, Perry would one day become the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet. Establishing a good relationship with him now seemed like a strategic move for her future.

Besides the newspaper, Kara also joined Taekwondo and Karate clubs, seeing them as opportunities to refine her combat skills. Though she possessed incredible strength and speed thanks to her Kryptonian heritage, Kara believed in mastering precision and technique.

Most of the martial arts taught at the clubs were performance-based, with high kicks and flashy moves that were impractical in real combat. However, in Kara's hands, even these techniques became devastating. Her kicks were swift, precise, and powerful, capable of shattering boards and bricks effortlessly.

Bruce Wayne, who also joined both clubs, watched her in action one day and challenged her to a sparring match. Bruce had quickly gained a reputation as a skilled martial artist, surprising even the senior students with his progress.

Their match ended swiftly. Kara landed a flawless flying kick that sent Bruce sprawling to the ground. Though he recovered gracefully, the brief duel left a lasting impression on him—and on the audience.

Kara explored other clubs as well, including one labeled as a Kung Fu club, but found their training methods unimpressive.

Her college life proceeded smoothly, with Kara quickly becoming a well-known figure on campus. Her striking beauty and exceptional talents made her the subject of much admiration, though no one dared to approach her romantically.

There were rumors that anyone who confessed to her either faced a polite but firm rejection or, in the case of more aggressive suitors, found themselves mysteriously plagued by a string of unlucky events.

As time passed, Kara continued excelling academically and socially. A year flew by, and Bruce Wayne, after establishing himself as an outstanding student, abruptly disappeared from the university.

Kara wasn't surprised. If Bruce was truly Batman, this was likely the period when he began his extensive training and preparation for his future crusade against crime.

She remembered reading about his brilliance, how he mastered disciplines like criminology, law, chemistry, and engineering by the age of twenty-one.

Though the dark knight hadn't yet made his debut, Kara knew that Gotham would soon have its protector.
