Smaug no matter how many times he tried not to think about that baryoynx she always came back to his mind. Her clan must live in a difficult area if there was not herbs there.
Mountainous areas could be a major pain only cause herbs and such couldn't grow there. But is that where her clan lived?
She had mentioned leaving her clan and having traveled very far from home.
Smaug closed his eyes and sighed, it would seem he was starting to lightly feel for that baryoynx. Guess that goes to show he actually cares, deep down.
The deep bubbling of the steam, the rushing water. These sounds helped ease his mind off about the baryoynx, but only for a short time.
She ran off to fast, and what was funny two hours later she returned which gave hint to her not having returned back to her clan though she didn't have any of the stuff he had given her.
Smaug was surprised to see her back so soon, and before he could react did she run over to him. It was so shocking to see that after helping her, she already fully trusted him.
Some wouldn't be so easily trusting, that just goes to show that she must be having a bad time.
"Thank you so much! I hate to ask but do you have any more stuff you can give me?", she asked this politely.
Smaug tilted his head, "Did you eat that fish?"
The baryoynx looked down as she shook her head some what ashamed, "No, but please don't think bad of me for it."
Smaug wanted so badly to scold her but she must of had her reasons. He moved standing up to his full height. "Where did you take it?"
The baryoynx looked up at him as she replied, "I gave it to a comrade of mine who is packing up the stuff we find!"
Smaug looked at her, "Show me."
The baryoynx blinked and she smiled walking off and he of course followed her. His pets remained behind clearly still interested in hunting for food.
"I am sorry to ask things of you but I'm very grateful to you! I will repay you I promise!", spoke the baryoynx as she looked at him with a smile.
Smaug stared at her before saying, "You can start off with your name."
The baryoynx looked at him before smiling, "My name is, Cobalt."
Smaug looked at the blue eyes and coloring over her eyes, along with the blue coloring she had as well. Her name somewhat stuck with him. "I'm Smaug."
Cobalt smiled at him before she looked ahead as she pointed, "This way!"
The both of them walked for a while before coming to notice a large looking spinosaurus. The brute was a dark brown color, with red on his face and spine.
Cobalt ran over to him as she pointed at Smaug, "He was the one who helped me!"
Smaug came to a stop, he looked at the other male silently. Even the large looking brute was down a few pounds, but his armor was quite heavy upon his body. He even wore a skull upon his head, but it was for protection nothing else.
"Is that so? Well, thank you stranger.", spoke the brute putting out his clawed right hand for a handshake. "I'm Flaay."
"Flaay?", replied Smaug hesitantly taking Flaay's hand.
Flaay smirked, "I am called that cause I can cut the meat from the bone quite well. I am more or less the cook but I can do other jobs."
Smaug tilted his head, "Cook?"
Flaay nodded before slowly shifting up a large looking bag made up of hide. "I am with Cobalt getting a few things. Our leader is not doing to well, so we are trying to help out as best as we could."
Cobalt looked at Smaug as she said, "Leading a large clan is difficult, where we live there is little food or herbs. My dad is the leader of the clan, but stress and stuff has hindered him quite badly."
Flaay looked at her kindly, "It will be alright. We can get through this."
Smaug looked at her in silence before saying, "Your father leads?"
Cobalt nodded softly, "Yes, he leads a clan of spinosaurus and suchomimus. He found my egg in a stream a while back and raised me, I don't care if we are different he is still my father."
Smaug stared at her for sometime before he looked at Flaay, "How is your clan if you don't mind me asking?"
Flaay looked at him as he replied, "It is heavily marshy, there is little to no food thanks a lot to the blind problem we have. Herbs are another issue."
Smaug looked at Cobalt who stared at him, her eyes shook in so many emotions. "I will help you out."
"Really!", spoke a shocked Cobalt.
Smaug nodded, "I can help get rid of your blind problem, I can of course find some herbs there as well."
There was a good chance that no one in the clan knew what to look for. Herbs were very hard to find if you weren't trained in finding them or knowing what they look like.
Smaug had been alone this whole time, he taught himself to find herbs and know what they look like. The blind wouldn't be a problem for him, besides that just meant that he could get stronger taking on the various blind that roamed their area.
Cobalt looked extremely happy as she shed tears of joy, even Flaay was ecstatic who crossed the line and gave him a big bear hug. Smaug was awkward of course as he moved out of the hug, "Watch it buddy."
Flaay blinked and he laughed, he sensed the awkwardness of the situation. "Oops, Sorry!"
Smaug looked back as he whistled, at that moment the both of his pets came barreling out of the brush. "Shall we go?"
Flaay nodded as he walked with a smile, Cobalt was happily walking beside Flaay but she gave Smaug a happy glance every now and then.
Smaug followed both Flaay and Cobalt, his pets ran ahead of everyone else. Both of his pets would stop and wait before continuing onward.
"So, those two I take it are trained?", asked Flaay.
"Yeah, they are useful for tracking stuff down as well.", replied Smaug who kept his eyes on his pets.
Flaay looked quite impressed, Cobalt looked at Smaug curiously. "Can you train others?"
Smaug smirked, "Sure, just give me a little while I can break their spirits."
Flaay laughed, "I gotta say, you are like a godsend."
Smaug tilted his head at that comment, was their clan suffering that badly. He hated to see it now.
It was difficult to keep a clan up, especially if it was large in size. You needed a great amount of food and water along with herbs. Just what exactly happened to their clan that made them suffer so?
"Why is your clan suffering?", asked Smaug.
Cobalt looked at him as she said, "Another clan has been giving us a hard time. They demanded that we give them eggs, for what reason I do not know?"
Flaay frowned, "That rex is a creep and a half but he is a dangerous beast. The guy really hounded on us a few years back because we didn't agree to his terms. In the end we became enemies. He runs a clan of nothing but rexes, and has way to much confidence."
Smaug frowned upon hearing this. This was why he stayed away from clans.
Cobalt looked down before looking back at him with a trusting smile, "I am sure after you help us my father can reward you! He is a nice sensible guy, he treats everyone fairly and I am sure he will treat you the same!"
Smaug got some what lost in her smile, though she was not a spinosaurus her father raised her. He treated her like his own. "I told you already you don't need too."
Cobalt looked down before replying, "I know but you deserve it."
Flaay chuckled, "Yep! After all you helped a stranger, like our leader says. There are some who remain alone but they are not all bad."
Smaug looked at Flaay silently, his words were somewhat powerful. He guessed that was true for himself, since he was helping the both of them and their clan.
Once more, Smaug was leaving his home to help a clan he didn't even know. He was further away from that rex who he wanted to fight but this would be worth it. By doing this he would become stronger than that rex and beat him.
Smaug will never forget that rex, he still had a score to settle with him.
The lands began to change, the forest became more dense and the air took on a soggy change. They had been walking for hours, and the time was already past noon.
The morning melted away, and time will do that if you are traveling somewhere far.
Smaug blinked when his pets made a call, and Flaay smirked pointing out a large wall made of nothing but trees. "Here we are."
Cobalt ran over and ran inside, the clan walls stood higher than Flaay. That went to show a lot of teamwork went into making this place.
The ground was soggy, they were definitely within a heavy marshland. There was crocodiles that laid out of the water, large trees shielded these animals from the harshness of the sun that rested high in the sky.
Smaug followed Flaay inside and was greeted by others of his kind. Everyone seemed to be okay, despite them losing food.
Blind beasts were clearly making it hard for them all to live. He could understand why they can't do anything, without food they could not keep their strength up.
Another problem was that the leader was ill, if he was sick there was no way he could give orders and make sure everyone was fine and safe.
Cobalt walked over to her father, everyone looked at her glad to see her back. There was spinosaurus and suchomimus here, Cobalt was telling the truth. Not that Smaug doubted her.
There was a large spinosaurus who lay in a nest, he was still alive though the sound of his breathing was harsh and painful.
The clan had no herbalist, that much he saw.
It was stupid that clans forbid large carnivores from finding herbs, this was a sign about how completely idiotic that rule was. There was a leader who was about to die, all because they didn't know what a herb looked like as well as that pitiful rule.
Smaug didn't like rules but he would have to get use to it, besides Cobalt's father was more important.
Flaay walked away to put all that they found in a safe place, Smaug on the other hand approached Cobalt and her ill father.
Cobalt's father was solid gray in color, he had a teal colored spine with the same color over his eyes in a line. He didn't wear a helmet but he had sharpened trike horns on each side of his mouth. His neck was covered in three layers of bones that went down to his tail.
"How long has he been like this?", asked Smaug.
"For a while now.", replied Cobalt who softly touched her fathers face.
Smaug could see that he had a fever, he couldn't open his eyes as well that was evident as he watched Cobalt touch him. His breathing was so painful it sounded like he couldn't breathe well, he must have some sort of cold. It was hard to say for sure.
"I will look for herbs I will be back.", spoke Smaug as he walked out of the camp. His pets were at his heels.
Smaug may not be one for the clan life but he will help Cobalt and her clan. They clearly need it if her father was to survive.
Smaug had his pets scan out for herbs to help increase the findings of more herbs, they knew what they smell like all thanks to him training them. As they looked around he right away found some herbs growing near the crocodiles. His large size caused many of the smaller crocodiles to flee back into the marsh.
Time was of the essence, without these herbs this clan could lose their leader. There was no telling how much longer he would survive without medical help.
So Smaug has decided to help this clan who are suffering, will he be able to help them as well as their sick leader? From the looks of it, he may of came at the right time?
But that means he would be doing a lot of things to help this clan get back on their feet. Will he succeed? ^^
