"I am just worried, like is my father alright?", spoke Adder who looked up at the night sky.
Though the blind beasts were making their calls in the night, it did little to stop the so many stars in the sky. The view of the stars from the valley were a great sight, and the camp was under the stars perfectly.
"When was the last time you saw him?", asked Bloodmaw who looked at Adder respectfully.
Adder looked at Bloodmaw silently before saying, "He was in a clan if I remember correctly, he spoke of finally making a change to better himself and his people."
Bloodmaw smiled, "He sounds like a honorable individual. What is his name?"
Adder smiled calmly as he replied, "Crusher."
At the mention of the name, Scarface froze up and slowly looked at Adder in pure shock. He looked down feeling a burning sensation deep down into the very pit of his stomach.
It may not seem like much, but Scarface liked Crusher. The rex was like a watchful but wise tutor who always gave him advice. Scarface lost the love of his life, he was blinded by that loss.
Crusher would always judge him, but that was cause he cared about him. Sure, Crusher stayed away from others physically he still cared about them mentally.
Scarface was actually upset, he wished he could go back in time and listen to Crusher and his advice. Slowly he stood up which got Ruby's attention, he gave her a look before approaching Adder and Bloodmaw.
Ruby remained laying where she was as she watched Scarface closely in concern.
"Adder...", spoke Scarface as he looked at him.
Adder blinked looking at Scarface a little surprised. "Hm?"
Bloodmaw looked between the two, the frown upon his face gave hint to his feelings about the situation.
"I was in your fathers clan.", replied Scarface looking down lightly. There was no better way to share this information, and he was certain that Adder will be upset about it.
Bad news was horrible. No matter what it was about.
News about losing a parent was probably one of the worst news ever to be shared. To lose a loved one or family member hurt worse than any other pain out there.
A broken heart would take longer to heal as well because of it.
Adder looked at Scarface almost happily, "Really! Where is he!"
Scarface flinched slightly at Adder's smile, he honestly didn't know what to say or do. "H-He didn't make it..."
The words came out. He had to know. As badly as Scarface didn't want to say, Adder needed to know.
Bloodmaw looked at Adder slowly, he looked down in silence as if preparing himself.
Adder's smile slowly changed to a emotional one, his eyes slowly closed as he fought back tears. "You're lying..."
Scarface swallowed silently before he continued carefully, and kindly. "He fought for his people, he was killed by...!"
"WHO KILLED HIM!", yelled Adder powerfully in pain.
The loud voice made many wake up from their slumber, quite a few eyes were on Adder and Scarface.
A low rumble came out as Devastate walked over, "Baldur killed him..."
"Didn't you help him?", spoke Bloodmaw which made Adder blink and glare.
"DID YOU!?!", roared Adder at Devastate.
The once calm night air became a thick mist of tension, Adder's expression was pained as tears fell from his eyes.
Devastate looked at Adder and he slowly nodded, "I did but I...!"
In a quick moment Devastate was pushed down, his throat was taken into Adder's jaws.
"DEVASTATE!?!", screamed Belle as she ran over with tears in her eyes. "Please forgive him!?!"
Grim quickly got up and got in between Adder and Devastate. "ENOUGH!"
Adder glared at Devastate who lay on the floor with a bloody neck. "..."
Scarface moved to be in front of Adder, "Devastate I may admit did something wrong but he feels badly for it! Baldur killed him! I saw it!"
Nina slowly approached Adder as she softly spoke, "Adder, it is okay. Please calm down..."
Adder slowly looked at Nina as he shook his head, "D-Dad is...!"
Nina frowned looking at him, "I know but you are attacking the wrong one..."
Belle looked at Devastate in pure concern, her petite hands clung to the behemoths face.
Gambit rushed over with herbs, he begun working on mending the wound as he looked at Belle. "It is okay."
"B-but..!", whimpered Belle.
Belle looked at Devastate in pure astonishment as Devastate spoke up, "I am alright..."
Belle sobbed loudly as she clung to him, the behemoth had his eyes closed trying to be calm. If he was calm, Belle would calm down.
Adder looked at Scarface with a glare, "I am going to kill, Baldur!"
Scarface frowned looking at him, "He will get what is coming to him. But please don't take it out on Devastate!"
Adder frowned before slowly walking away, Nina followed after him concerned.
Scarface looked down, he looked at Devastate who lay on the ground. Adder really lashed out at Devastate. It was to be expected, after all he lost his father.
Devastate did help Baldur, but he quickly regretted it. He also was looking after Belle, he could of easily killed her but he didn't. Scarface remembered that Devastate didn't like raptors, but here he was taking care of one.
That meant exactly what he had thought, Devastate was not all bad. He just placed his bets on the wrong side, that and he was stubborn.
Bloodmaw looked at Scarface as he said, "It will be alright. He just needs to cool off."
Scarface looked at Bloodmaw as he replied, "I know, but should I of not told him?"
Bloodmaw looked down for a moment before replying, "He was bound to find out either way. Sure, it was bad news but he needed to know."
Scarface looked at him silently before looking at Devastate, he couldn't help but feel bad for him.
Adder really grabbed Devastate good, no doubt a scar will appear upon his neck.
Grim snorted as he followed Adder, he was keeping a eye on him for reasons.
As the tension slowly disappears, did the calmness of the night return. Everyone slowly began to settle back down after the episode between Adder and Devastate.
Gambit took care of Devastate's wounds, he was not bleeding as badly as he did. Belle remained by his side still sobbing to herself.
"I can't help but feel like I am not making you happy...", sobbed Belle.
Devastate looked at her with a upset look in his eyes, "What are you talking about?, I'm happy that you are safe."
Belle looked at him as she replied, "I want you to be happy, I know you want me safe but I want to make your life brighter. Am I even doing that...?"
The behemoth looked at her puzzled, Belle looked so upset and so lost. It was like she couldn't live with herself if he was not happy. Why must his heart squeeze like this for her. "My life is brighter cause you are in it, Belle..."
Belle looked at him with wide teary eyes, she smiled at him as she hugged the side of his face. "I like you, and I want you to be happy....!"
Devastate closed his eyes slowly as he replied, "I know..."
Belle softly sobbed as she kept her hands upon the much larger brutes face.
Grim laid a bit outside of the camp, he watched Adder and Nina in the distance as they talked. While Bloodmaw kept his eyes on everyone else, he looked toward Devastate and Belle in silence.
Devastate did help Baldur, but here he was looking after a raptor and protecting her. Baldur was a callous tyrant who didn't care for anyone but himself, and Devastate from what he saw didn't have his qualities.
Perhaps he could be forgiven?
Bloodmaw looked down, he would see about giving Devastate a chance in the clan. Scarface stood up for him and so maybe he was not entirely bad.
Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes can end your life. This mistake though could be forgiven. Bloodmaw felt like he could forgive him.
Why else would a raptor throw themselves in front of someone? It was cause he was not bad or evil.
It was just the brute was bad at making decisions at times.
Bloodmaw looked out to where Adder and Nina were, he was concerned about Adder.
To lose a parent was tough, for him to be upset must of meant that he didn't spend as much time as he should of with his father.
Nina looked at Adder silently, she smiled softly as she said. "You feel better?"
Adder looked at her with his eyes pained still, "I don't really know..."
Nina frowned hearing his answer, "I am sorry..."
Adder looked at her for a moment before giving a little smile, "Don't be..."
Adder looked away with a sigh, his face was twisted in thought.
"I know you cared for your father, but I think he would be proud of you.", softly spoke Nina. "I mean I like to think that he would be proud..."
Adder looked at her as she talked, he frowned slightly as he stared at her. Everyone has lost something in this life. Either it be a home or someone who you love with your entire being.
That was why it was so important to make memories.
"I'm pretty sure he would be proud of me.", replied Adder as he gave Nina a smile. "Every child wants to make their father proud."
Nina gave Adder a smile, she was glad to see him smile.
Adder looked to the side as said, "But I cannot help but feel like I could of done more. I mean if I was there he wouldn't be dead right?"
Nina looked down as she replied, "I am sure everyone feels like that. I mean I do."
Adder looked at her silently before looking back to camp, he stared at the camp for a second. "I just can't believe he is gone..."
Nina looked at him sadly as she looked at the camp and then back at him. "I can't believe it either..."
Adder sighed before blinking at Nina's words, "What are you going to do?"
"Hm, I am going to give hell to the guy who killed my father...", frowned Adder as he replied.
Nina gave him a smile, "I bet you will, but we can't do it alone."
Adder looked at her as he sighed, "I guess so, I just can't help but want to go out there and find the guy myself."
Nina looked at him with a worried face, "I know you do but if you do that alone..."
Adder gave her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry I won't."
Nina smiled relieved as she slowly began walking back to camp, "Let's go back."
Adder nodded as he followed her.
As the both of them began to return did Grim return back inside the camp, since the both of them didn't do anything reckless he didn't see the need to keep a eye on them.
Bloodmaw looked happy that they returned to camp, he was honestly worried that Adder would do something reckless. It was never a good idea to go charging into the unknown.
By recklessly running in a direction, you would quickly fall.
It was never a good idea to be reckless. So many individuals learned the hard way.
The stars remained high in the sky above the clan of Bloodmaw, everyone was asleep and getting rest for the next approaching dawn. Bloodmaw remained awake to keep watch of the clan as they slept. By having someone awake, nothing could go completely wrong.
Bloodmaw couldn't help but look toward his sons, he was still in deep thought about this. Dreadtooth didn't show much interest in Lesion, which meant that Lesion would have to train and work harder.
Bloodmaw was confident that Swiftscale could teach Lesion everything that he needed to survive. But would that be enough.?
Lesion was a good hearted youngster, and he was optimistic and caring. But all these traits were not good enough for Dreadtooth.
Bloodmaw decided that he would have to train Lesion as well, Lesion needed to be skilled in fighting if he was to get Dreadtooth's approval.
Without it, then he wouldn't be able to marry Dreadtooth's daughter.
Poor Adder, I do not blame him for lashing out against Devastate. What are your thoughts on Adder lashing out against Devastate? I would like to know! ^^
Furthermore, Lesion is going to have to do whatever it takes to get Dreadtooth's approval. The thing is? Would it be enough?
