Capítulo 28: Precipice
Dawn came rather quickly, the valley took on the bright rays of the sun as it broke through the darkness. With each new day brought new experiences as well as dangers.
The youngsters were clearly up before the many adults.
Lesion looked at his brother with curious eyes, "Why do you want to fight so much?"
Jr looked at him with a thoughtful look, "I want to help dad, I can't help him now the way that I am."
Lesion looked down, "But growing up so fast means that you might die."
Jr looked away, "We are going to die either way."
This was such a deep conversation even for youngsters. Some offspring know the dangers all to well only cause some of them don't make it to adulthood.
Lesion looked at his missing arm, his face seemed rather downhearted.
Jr walked away from his brother with full on strength within his eyes.
Bloodmaw watched as everyone began to wake up, Grim stood beside him.
"We have plenty of food, but we still need more to hold us for a while. You never know what might happen.", spoke Bloodmaw looking at the food they had gathered.
With more members came greater risks. Food was important to make sure everyone had strength, if they lose all the food then they would be in a tight spot.
Grim looked at Bloodmaw, "I will keep hunting until you don't want me too."
Bloodmaw smirked, "I don't want you killing off all of our prey. Just a bit more will do."
Grim nodded as he walked away, Scarface picked up on Grim leaving and he quickly ran after him.
Swiftscale stretched out from sleeping as he stood up, he looked toward the youngsters and smiled approaching them.
Ebony looked after him before looking at Bloodmaw and walking to him.
Harmony watched Lockjaw walk away as he followed Grim and Scarface.
Everyday was the same thing, by maintaining a routine they would survive anything that came their way. Ruby smiled at Gambit clearly interested in learning more about herbs.
Devastate watched as everyone got up to do something, the behemoth frowned upon the fact that he was sore. He wanted to help out but Belle told him to take it easy. Rather, she made him promise to her that he would. Though she was somewhat innocent she sure was clever when she wanted to be.
Helm and Dingo began scouting around the area, by scouting they will know of any upcoming dangers.
"Bloodmaw?", asked Ebony walking to him.
"Hm?", grunted the large brute with a small smile.
"I wanna help the clan anyway I can but I don't want to hunt with Grim." It was clear that Ebony saw that they didn't need her so much when it came to hunting. Grim, Scarface, and Lockjaw were a formidable team.
"You can help Helm if you want? Of course you can take it easy today. You have been doing so much even though you had lost your husband.", replied Bloodmaw who gave Ebony a kind look. He understood that she has been through so much.
Ebony looked at him with a tough smile, "I can handle it!"
"I know you can but you have to take care of yourself.", replied Bloodmaw.
Ebony's smile decreased a bit, "I know."
Bloodmaw gave her a kind look before looking at Swiftscale talking to his kids. "I know of the situation that two brutes like you."
Ebony looked at him as she scoffed, "Everyone knows!"
Bloodmaw chuckled as he asked, "Who has your eyes at the moment?"
Ebony's face became priceless, though she flushed a bit. "Why the hell are you asking me that!?!"
Bloodmaw chuckled at her reaction, "I'm just curious, besides I want you to be happy."
Ebony looked away as she scoffed out in a tomboyish way, "You are so nosey!"
Bloodmaw kept chuckling as he looked at the camp, "I have to be nosey, you are like a daughter to me."
Ebony looked at him shyly before looking at the camp as well, "I don't know, I mean my husband just died and I can't you know..."
Bloodmaw looked at her as he nodded, "I know but if you give off a hint that you like someone that may just ease the testosterone off?"
Ebony looked at him as she laughed, "I guess so!"
Bloodmaw chuckled as he looked at her.
Ebony looked at the camp, her eyes looked after Grim but then they shifted to Swiftscale. She took a deep breath before saying, "I admit Grim is a strong guy and all but I just don't see it working between me and him."
Bloodmaw nodded, "Grim isn't one for showing how he feels."
Ebony looked at him as she nodded softly, "Yeah, I see him as a older brother. I mean he joined the clan before me!"
Bloodmaw chuckled, "He did."
Ebony looked at Swiftscale some what shyly, "Swiftscale is a funny one, he also eats fish. But, he is pretty good at fighting. He also is close to Helm which I never would of expected!"
Bloodmaw looked at Swiftscale as he smiled, "I owe him for saving my kids as well as teaching them how to survive. I don't know what would of happened if we hadn't found him."
Ebony smirked, "Your kids would grow up believing all of Dingo's stories and being a little strange!"
Bloodmaw looked at her with a smile, "I suppose so?"
Ebony looked at Swiftscale for a bit more before looking at Bloodmaw, "Can you tell Grim for me? I feel like if I told him myself he wouldn't believe me."
Bloodmaw looked in the direction Grim had went too. "I will."
Ebony smiled softly, "Thanks boss!"
Bloodmaw chuckled at her before looking after her, "I suggest you tell Ruby that you like Swiftscale."
Ebony shyly scoffed as she turned and walked back into camp.
"Got it!", squeaked Jr as he ran into the bushes.
Swiftscale smiled, "Since you are a rex you will have to rely on your bite!" The baryonyx looked at Lesion who seemed distant, he was staring into space a lot as well.
"Lesion?"
"YEA!?!", yelled Lesion as he came back to reality.
"Did you hear me?", asked Swiftscale tilting his head.
"Uh... no...", sighed the youngster with a defeated look.
Swiftscale frowned softly approaching him. "What's wrong?"
Lesion looked up at him with tears in his eyes, "I talked with my brother! He has changed!"
Swiftscale looked at the youngster sadly, "He is still your brother, and he will need you down the road."
Lesion shook his head fast, "I won't be there for him cause I don't have the same strength he has!?!"
The baryonyx looked at Lesion surprised. What on earth did his brother say to him?
"You have strength, you have so much more strength than you know!", spoke Swiftscale moving his face down to Lesion's. He gave the youngster a kind smile. "I train you two everyday and I see the strength both of you have!"
Lesion sniffled as he looked up at him, "Really..?"
Swiftscale nodded, "Yes really!"
Lesion smiled as he shook his head shaking the tears away, "I will be the strongest rex ever!?!"
Swiftscale laughed kindly, he was very supportive of both of the youngsters.
The baryonyx lifted his head up and as he did, a loud scream entered the air. "!?!"
Bloodmaw heard the scream and he charged forward, "JR!?!"
Swiftscale quickly ran in that direction of the scream, he had to literally slide to stop when he about fell off a steep escarpment. "JR!?!"
Harmony looked around not at all seeing where he had fell, Lesion was crying looking down the drop.
Gambit looked down, there were trees that blocked the view of where Jr had fell and how far down the drop went. "Good god!?!"
Swiftscale looked pale, he was teaching them to track and hunt. Jr probably found a small lizard or frog and tried to chase it only then to fall. If anything were to happen to him he didn't know what he would do! Bloodmaw probably would never forgive him!
"Everyone scatter out!?!", yelled Bloodmaw as he ran to find a way down.
Swiftscale was shaking, Ebony looked at him and she gave him a smile. "It is okay! We will find him!"
Swiftscale looked at her and he nodded as he followed Bloodmaw.
Lesion looked at Ebony as he cried some more, "Is he going to be okay? What if they don't find him!?!"
Ebony looked at him and she smiled, "We will! Stay next to me okay!"
The youngster nodded as he followed after her.
Just about everyone was below looking for Jr, every thing was turned over and moved. Ruby looked sad walking up to everyone, Jr was literally gone.
Bloodmaw however was still looking, he was frantically searching for any sign of his son. Ebony watched him sadly, "How could he just vanish?"
Harmony looked at her, "I don't know? Are we sure he fell?"
Gambit jumped out of the bushes, and he sighed. "No luck."
Belle looked at him worriedly, she looked at Bloodmaw who still kept searching.
Swiftscale fidgeted with his claws, he was very uncomfortable and tense. Ruby looked up as she spoke, "I think he fell? I don't know these trees are against us."
Belle ran back up to the camp, "I will go back up and look!"
Gambit followed after her, "I will help!"
Lesion sobbed, he could never believe that his brother disappeared. He was probably hurt alone somewhere!
Bloodmaw panted, he had literally looked through every bush he could find. He clearly scanned the whole area, he turned and began walking. "I will search further down."
"I am sure that we will find him! Scarface is good at tracking I will go get him!", exclaimed Ebony running back up to camp.
Blind beasts and other clans were not the only danger, sheer drops could also prove dangerous. The clan continued to search for Jr, they would not stop until they did find him.
Ebony ran back with Scarface, Harmony remained near Lesion while she was gone.
Scarface looked up from the drop, he looked around with sharp eyes. It didn't take long for Helm and Dingo to find everyone.
"Aye! What happened!", spoke Dingo concerned.
"Jr I think fell!?!", replied Ebony who followed after Scarface.
Dingo blinked, "Poor kid he almost died from a no good food hog and now he fell off a bloody cliff!"
Helm glared a bit at Dingo who quickly shutted up.
Bloodmaw walked back to the others he blinked at Scarface who spoke up. "I think I found something!"
Swiftscale looked at him and ran over, "What!?!"
Bloodmaw quickly walked over and looked at the ground where Scarface was looking. "!?!"
The ground showed a faint amount of blood, along with two fairly large footprints.
Swiftscale looked at Scarface, "Is he dead?"
Scarface shook his head, "I don't think so but I'm sure he got hurt from the fall?"
His words proved to hold truth for the footprints made a trail into a completely new territory. Ebony looked out and she asked, "What's the plan?"
"We get my son back.", spoke Bloodmaw as he began following the trail.
Scarface looked after him as he said, "What about the camp..?"
Bloodmaw froze in his steps, he looked back at everyone else in silence.
Helm walked over to Bloodmaw and he smiled, "We can make teams! Unless everyone wants to go?"
Ebony blinked as Swiftscale walked toward them, "I am going I have to make sure he is okay!"
Harmony smiled, "I will stay behind I'm sure Lockjaw and I can keep the camp safe."
Ebony looked at Lesion as she looked up at Swiftscale, "I am going too!"
The clan had made their decision, by dividing into two groups they would accomplish the goal of protecting the camp and finding Jr. Bloodmaw, Swiftscale, Ebony, Scarface, Ruby and Helm have decided to go after Jr.
The rest would remain in camp just in case something were to happen. Grim would be in charge of the camp until Bloodmaw returns. Bloodmaw began leading his small group into a new territory which most likely holds many more dangers.
