The thing about time was that it went by fast, so fast in fact that once you blink you were in a different place in time. Quite a few nights had past since Dreadtooth came to speak to Bloodmaw, and before everyone knew it a few months had went by. Not much happened in that time, for everyone was focused on surviving.
The clan of Bloodmaw had been working hard to make their clan stronger and larger than it once was. By surviving and working together, they could not believe that so much time had past.
Bloodmaw was still focusing on his clans survival and leading them, he also knew that the bond between him and his children were without a doubt severed.
The once small youngsters of the clan were now some what bigger, and both of them were taking on changes. Changes that would no doubt stay with them throughout their lives.
Jr had took on quite a bit of muscle more so than his brother, his body coloring remained the same to his sire for there was black with faint red colors throughout. Though, his face held a lot more of the red coloring. His legs were pitch black with shades of red going up to his knees.
Lesion however was evenly toned in body and muscle, he also stood taller than Jr. His body was black in color, his sides had a even tone of red. Lesion's face was actually taking on a red with white coloring which was greatly different to his father and brother. Not only that but he had quite a lot of black feathers growing on the back of his head. It sort of looked like a mohawk like mane. His legs were black and that color would fade to red once it got closer to his feet.
Offspring were always going to be different from one another, that is only cause their bodies were greatly changing. This was also due to the family bloodline.
The thing about offspring was that they grow faster and stronger, that is once they survive long enough. Since the both of them were surviving, they didn't have to fear about becoming lunch. Though they still would have to be careful since there was a lot of things bigger than them.
Jr and Lesion were not sought after as much as they were when they were little. They were still little of course but they were starting to get stronger. Once they were to become teens would they start to grow faster.
Before they knew it, the wedding would be here and Jr would have to marry Fiala.
Compared to Swiftscale however the both of them were close to his hips. Though Lesion would be taller than him once he was to become a teen.
Lesion and Jr have also grown apart, not only that but Lesion remains close to Grim.
Since they were bigger than they were, Lesion and Jr could decide on what they wanted to do when it came to training. Lesion wanted to learn from Grim, while Jr remains with Swiftscale.
Bloodmaw was proud of his children, that would never change. A parents love knows no bounds. Every day he would watch them from a far, with a very proud smile upon his lips.
Jr talks to Bloodmaw from time to time but Lesion refuses to speak to him.
Lesion even stays away from his brother, he clearly holds a grudge against him.
Swiftscale couldn't help but see Lesion and Jr as his own kids, since well both Jr and Lesion talk to him. It was just that Lesion would not talk to him when he was around Jr or Bloodmaw.
It hurt him actually to see two brothers pushed apart from one another.
Swiftscale had said it to Ebony how he wishes things were different. No family should have to be ripped apart.
The whole clan had taken notice of Bloodmaw and his children. Of course it was not hard to see why. Anyone could see that the bond between them was not the same.
It was a early morning now, the air was some what hotter which made it crucial for everyone to stay hydrated.
Swiftscale didn't mind taking trips to get water for his clan. Thanks to Ruby and her interest in clay molding did she make a container to carry water. She actually made a few containers for everyone to have as well as use.
Helm and Dingo were always scouting out the area, and since they do it everyday they had strengthened the clans security.
Gambit was officially titled as the clan herbalist, and Belle was his assistant. The both of them made a good team, and the herbs they found were plentiful.
Devastate was fully healed, though he had a scar upon his neck from when Adder attacked him. The behemoth actually had a few scars that littered his frame. What was even nicer was that Bloodmaw had made Devastate his right hand man.
Bloodmaw and Devastate had talked often, and Bloodmaw felt like he would be good for the position. Not only that but Devastate had made a promise to never betray his people again. Just hearing that, and seeing how sincere he was made Bloodmaw see him differently.
Scarface was a hunter for the clan, though Ruby didn't like him going out alone. She honestly didn't feel like he should go out alone to hunt. But he did. The scar upon his side was healed but it was also a reminder to what had happened to Crusher's clan.
He would sometimes stare at the scar with a look of guilt. The only reason why he looks at it was that he couldn't help but think back then.
Crusher didn't deserve to die the way that he did.
Why was it that death was final? It didn't seem fair.
Adder deserved to see his father one last time, but life so cruelly took him away. Scarface was going out alone only cause he didn't want to think about it. He also wanted to better himself, to prove to Crusher that he had learned well from his mistakes.
Thing is he couldn't tell or show Crusher that, he was gone. Scarface looked up at the clan he was in now, he would do better for this clan. That was the least he could do.
Harmony and Lockjaw were extremely pleased being here in the clan. That much could be seen, furthermore Lockjaw had fully woke up and could talk now though he still knows the so called blind language. This was another great surprise, it further surprised Harmony only cause she woke up to hear him speak.
Bloodmaw wanted to throw a little celebration for him, to show that he was respected and welcomed here. This would happen tonight, and almost everyone was looking forward to it.
A little celebration did a lot for a clan, it strengthened bonds and increased morale. Perhaps Bloodmaw wanted to do this to somehow repair his relationship with his children. Thing is, would it work?
As everyone thrived, it didn't look like anything could happen to ruin it. That was wrong.
Bloodmaw blinked taking notice of a rex moving in the distance, his eyes narrowed when he saw who it was. His eyes went wide seeing that it was Fiala. Why was she here alone?
Devastate looked at him as Bloodmaw approached her.
"Why are you here alone?", asked Bloodmaw curiously.
Fiala looked up to him with a nervous smile. "I just wanted to come visit you guys, without my father."
"Does he know?", asked Bloodmaw.
Fiala shook her head, "I just wanted to come over and apologize."
Bloodmaw looked at her silently, she honestly looked remorseful.
She was not like her father, she was rather graceful but had a great tenderness to her and her heart. She also looked quite attractive in her appearance, she would no doubt be a beautiful bride once the wedding arrives.
Bloodmaw swallowed somewhat silently, this would surely bring up some tension between his children since she was here. "You don't need to apologize.", replied Bloodmaw.
What else could he say to her.
Fiala looked at him softly before looking behind him curiously, her eyes slowly began to look sad seeing Lesion. "Can I talk to Lesion..?", she cautiously asked this.
Bloodmaw looked back at Lesion who was standing beside Grim. His back was turned to the both of them, did he know she was here? "I don't know if you should, I won't stop you but..."
Fiala took a deep breath, "He deserves a proper apology."
Bloodmaw looked at her silently, she honestly looked upset about all this. He could see that as she slowly walks over to Lesion.
Swiftscale was talking to Jr, about properly countering a attack. His eyes shifted once he saw Fiala approaching Lesion. He some what went quiet, and of course Jr looked over curiously wondering what was up.
The whole clan watched from where they were, it was incredible for all of them to sense what was up. How would it turn out though, that was the real question.
To have this happen after sometime has past was greatly unexpected.
"Lesion..?", asked Fiala.
Lesion looked back at her with some what wide eyes, while Grim looked at Lesion before shifting to look back at Fiala.
"Can I talk to you..?", asked Fiala.
Lesion looked away from her before slowly turning to face her. He was silent as he looked at her.
"Aren't you going to say something?", asked Fiala feeling a little awkward.
"What is there to say, you like my brother.", replied Lesion looking down. He honestly looked like he had been struck by the biggest of blows.
Fiala looked down, "Please understand that I..."
"No. Don't say it.", replied Lesion cutting her off.
Fiala looked at him surprised, she looked at him silently as her gaze took on tears. "I tried to ta..", she tried explaining herself, to tell the truth but Lesion didn't want to hear it.
"Stop, okay. I don't want to hear it.", Lesion had his eyes away from her. It was like she was not there before him.
Fiala looked at him as soft sobs came from her lips, she looked at Grim who frowned.
Bloodmaw looked at them with the same face that he had when he told his kids about the news. The news that Dreadtooth officially told him, that Fiala liked Jr.
Speaking of Jr, he walked over and he gave Fiala a look. "Come on, let's go."
Fiala looked at Jr before slowly walking to him, her head was lowered as she done so.
How could such a arrangement cause so much pain? The more he watched, the more he wanted to change his mind.
Bloodmaw closed his eyes, he was thinking about the most difficult decision to cease the pact. When was it enough? Just how much harm can this do?
Apparently it could do a lot, from what he has seen already. Before his kids could become teens, Bloodmaw was going to talk to Dreadtooth again. He had said that he was going to agree to the pact, but no arrangement was worth this.
He knew of the consequences. But no agreement was worth the pain he had seen upon both his kids face. Bloodmaw was not the only one either, the whole clan has voiced their concern.
As he looked after Jr and Fiala, he looked at Lesion who has become so cold and withdrawn. Just by changing who was to marry Fiala did it affect him more than ever.
Lesion and Jr were once happy and adventurous, and now they won't even talk to one another. Blood was more important than some deal.
Would Dreadtooth understand? That he doubted. But no parent should ever choose between safety or blood.
That night should of been the night when he refuses to uphold the pact. So much time had past by, but he still had time to cease this torment.
Bloodmaw was ready for anything to happen in case this goes badly. He just hoped that it was not to late to fix his bond with his children.
It is so horrible to see a one strong family, break apart over a pact or deal. It also makes you wonder? Is a promise of safety for one of your children worth it? What do you all think?
See you in the next chapter!
