The snowstorm raged for two full weeks before showing signs of abating, allowing a burst of warm sunshine to filter through the thick, dark clouds. Only then did the islanders dare to open their windows and venture out of their houses to enjoy the faint warmth that shone upon their bodies.
The whole village instantly sprang back to life. Children's delicate laughter echoed across the streets as they played around and fought with snowballs, while adults engaged in idle chatter as they worked to clear the thick snow piling in front of their doors. Some other villagers gathered on the fields, removing the spoilt corps and salvaging whatever they could despite the chill freezing their fingers and noses.
