My chest began to tighten almost immediately, and within a few seconds, I was overcome with a feeling of panic. Where exactly had I left my waistband?

As I retraced my steps back to the door of Alpha Cedric's room, I looked down at the ground in an attempt to locate the Ruby waistband that was found on me as a baby.

There was no way I could let something as important as that slip through my fingers, especially considering the fact that it was the only thing I still had related to my real family—the only thing serving as a reminder of my time with probably my birth mother.

Even though I didn't remember dropping anything because I wasn't that careless, I hoped and prayed to the heavens and the almighty that it would just show up on the floor or something.
