If a world advances in some field controlled by one of its add-ons in a way that is not dictated by the rules of that add-on or one of its subs, the world would change the rune little by little so it would match the advances of that field.
These changes appear easier when the add-on's rank is low, but they could happen in high-ranking ones if the advancement is big enough.
Even so, a unique event could not be enough to force a change either. For example, if a mage were to create a new branch in a magic-add-on, he may need to pass down that new knowledge before the rune changes.
This way, if the world were to develop in a way that the creator doesn't desire, he would be able to correct them before they become consolidated into his world and their erasing becomes more expensive.
Even more important than that, is the possibility of an add-on dividing itself in two. When a rune grows so much that the current size of the core's rune slots, it will split in two if there is another slot available. If all the other slots were occupied, the rune would stay whole until there was any vacant space, but its energy consumption would increase to a large degree.
—Extract from the Builder's Magazine #16, "Growing Runes and Their Management."
After orchestrating the discovery of life-energy in his world, Axel continued to follow Zack's adventure. He saw how he traveled to the new continent and how he met his mother before going to the desert where he hid the new element.
Everything continued as he had planned, and after he saw how Zack ate the fruit on the oasis, he knew that the plan had been a success.
After seeing that, Axel changed the image that he was looking at to see his world's core. He realized that the energy add-on had changed since the last time he saw it just by looking at it, as a black line appeared on one of the sides of the golden rune.
"I guess that line has something to do with corruption, right?" Axel asked.
"That's right. After the cultivators and beasts learned how to use it, the add-on integrated the corruption into the rune. We could erase that line from the add-on by using some energy if you wish. That way, no more corruption would appear in this world ever again."
At that moment, Axel became pensive.
On one hand, corruption was a danger to his world, as it could drive any affected creature crazy. On the other hand, there seemed to be some cultivation techniques in his world that involved corruption, and they seemed to be powerful.
Because of this, he didn't want to lose a possible secret weapon, as it could be a high-stage corruption cultivator or magical beast, but at the same time, there were some problems that he may have needed to solve before accepting the corruption into his world.
"Heaven, what do you think about what the cult leader wrote in his diary? Is it possible to reach a new cultivation realm if someone uses pure corruption to boost their mind, body, and dantian?" Axel asked.
"From what I have observed and felt in the rune, it could be possible if the person has the three parts at least at stage six and the corruption is pure enough, but obtaining something like that without the help of heavenly-energy would need a lot of effort," Heaven replied.
"I see. I'm not interested in making corruption necessary to advance, so I will need to do something while I find another way for other cultivators to break through to the new rank. Tell me, who is the strongest cultivator right now?"
"The strongest cultivator is Raziel, the leader of the Guburg Village. Her cultivation stages are seven on her dantian and body, while her sea of consciousness is at the limit of stage six."
"Ok, if I put a stage need to attempt to break through, I could gain some time until I develop the main way to reach the next rank," Axel said while looking at the core.
Some energy began to concentrate on the cultivation add-on, and the lines began to bend as Axel began to talk.
"Anyone that wants to attempt their breakthrough towards the next rank would need to have reached the limit of the ninth stage in their sea of consciousness, body, and dantian. The breakthrough could be delayed to strengthen their cultivation foundation to ease their future progress and breakthroughs. Anyone that tries to break through while they don't meet the conditions for it would fail in their attempt and could be hurt depending on how far they are from meeting them." Axel recited while the rune's lines changed.
Looking at his core, Axel couldn't help but smile.
'With this, the requirements of the next rank would be higher, and the cultivators that managed to reach it would be stronger. Also, I should have gained some time to think about how to develop the add-on, so I think this is a win-win situation. Maybe I should even call Mark so he gets me into a rift as soon as possible.'
With those thoughts, Axel broke his concentration and went to grab his phone to message Mark.
Here it is, the first chapter of the week.
I hope you like it and that you have a nice day.
See you tomorrow for more.
