"She came to me. Willingly," Isis insisted.
"What is she doing with you?" He asked more strongly.
"Tell him," Isis demanded.
"I was . . . running from Yuugi," Anzu admitted.
Running from him? "Why did you run? I'm sorry about Hikaru, but we are working hard on getting him back," he apologized. "We'll get it figured out, I promise, we are making really great progress. Oh? I'm. Um. Sorry with the way I reacted. It's just that, Sil was my daughter, and I just overreacted briefly."
Anzu still didn't look well. That didn't seem to help her at all? What else was wrong?
"Remember how I said that it wouldn't be good if you just kept that other side of you alive and not become gods?" Isis gestured to her. "Her heart is absolutely crushed. She knows her eternity."
Her eternity? "To be with me." He smiled.
"No, no, no. She isn't a goddess. She won't join with the other her you know," Isis warned him. "All of the other Anzu's forgot you. She doesn't. She is hurting because of you. She is running because of you."
Uuuhh . . . Ethereal Yugi shrugged. What should he do about this? "Can we just erase her mind over me too then? Oh, but wait!" He held out his hands. "She is Hikaru's mom." He glanced toward Isis. "When she goes, can't we just . . .?" He held out his hands and squished them together.
Isis just shook her head. "One. Who do you want to marry? The one in the chapel, or this one? She will have the years with Hikaru you want to share with her. She will grow old with a version of you. If you take the other?"
"She's my wife." No. "She was there for me."
"She was there for a part of you. How many have you stopped thinking about, to give her the Yugi she recognized?" Isis picked at him. "You know that you would be happy with any one of them. Do you want her?"
Oooohh . . . "Atem?" he called weakly. "We have a little problem."
"Also? Atem seems to have his own problems here." Isis pointed at Atem as Bes brought him over. "The reason Masika is so hard to get along with, versus the other, is because the other one doesn't remember her entire Egyptian life. Only a few parts, mainly with Bakura. She gets along very well with the other you."
Atem wasn't falling for it. "What are you doing over here with Yugi?" Atem commanded. "You cannot trick us. We know that you know now."
It couldn't be avoided. As soon as Silhouette was dragged to the Shadow Realm, there was no hiding it.
"Yes, I get it. You want to save Silhouette. You should have told me that," Isis said to them. "I thought you were being pains who demanded more life, not that you actually needed help. I can help save Silhouette her fate."
"You said that we had learned 'a lesson' when we had to let go," Atem called her out.
"Of course, I'm sure I would say that. Every god must learn painful lessons. They usually learn their first ones quite quick," Isis stated. "You just learned another lesson instead. The more you visit Earth, the harder it is to keep control. You can feel the suffering of all humanity. It is a pain that few gods like to endure for very long. I imagine with you actually having been human, it hits even harder. It also zaps your power so incredibly much."
"Fine, you know then," Yugi said huffily. "Can you . . . help with Silhouette and Anzu?"
"Choose your brides. The others will go to the Bakura's for their eternity."
"If we save Silhouette, then no one has to go to Bakura," Atem noted.
"They need to go somewhere. If they die first before the last part of you falls and you become gods? Where do they go? After all, you won't let them forget."
Atem approached Anzu. "Would you be willing to die right now to have Yugi for eternity?"
"Yes," she said.
"No, you wouldn't. No one would think so boldly about an afterlife when they are still alive." He came closer to Isis. "You are manipulating her."
"That makes sense." It made a lot of sense. Yugi came closer to her. "I mean, she never even married the last human version of me. Why would she throw her whole life away like that when she doesn't have to?"
"You are right. They don't have to go to Bakura. She will need to go somewhere. Are you really going to abandon her?" Isis asked.
"No, she can join with her counterpart," Atem stated.
"No. That isn't possible, that is goddess power."
"But on Earth, Masika and an Anzu did get together for a few seconds?" Yugi questioned her. "That's when they were alive. They won't be bound by the rules of living things in reality when they are gone."
"Fusion. Infusion. Defusion. That is gods and goddesses. That happened during a gods game. That can't happen outside of those confines, the same way Hikaru should not have happened." Isis snapped her fingers, and Téa was now there. "Choose! That is all you can ever do is choose. Don't break their hearts anymore than you have to."
"What?" No. "Téa. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I was just in the chapel," Téa answered.
"Let's look at the facts," Isis said. "One could live a nice, long life with a version of you. One could grow up and share their life with Hikaru. One can't, it's over."
"I have memories of her as my wife," Yugi told Isis. "I could never lose Téa."
"Lose me?" Téa asked. "Now what's going on, Yugi?" She looked toward someone who looked sort of like her. "Who's that?"
"There is no reason to choose anything," Atem commanded Yugi. "Choose nothing! The other is not gone yet, nothing of this matters yet. She is manipulating Anzu."
"Right." Right. What was Isis trying to do? She is being clever. I just don't know how.
"When her time comes to depart from her world," Atem said, "then we will figure it out. Until then, this matter stays undone."
"The matter doesn't change. The only way to keep the whole First Tear of Ra, is to make her a goddess," Isis warned him. "So, choose."
"Make her a goddess? I thought that wasn't allowed," Yugi asked.
"If your goal is to play a gods game for Silhouette, up the ante. Make her a goddess too."
Oh. "That would solve the dilemma." He could have the parts he knew as his wife, as well as grow old and continue raising the kids. "If both forms left could become a goddess."
"Not quite, Silly," Isis actually chuckled. "She is paired with Masika, always together, and always apart."
"Well? Right, so Masika would have to be a goddess too." That only made sense. "Is that allowed? Three people into goddesses?"
"It is rougher to get," Isis said, "but definition is everything. It could be changed to 'the First Tear of Ra and her offspring into deities after death.' "Is that what you want?"
"No," Atem stopped her. "We are not playing any gods game, it's just the last of our mortal selves."
"The last of your mortal selves will be playing a gods game to turn the First Tear of Ra and her offspring into deities after death?"
"Right," Yugi agreed, "so that Zorc never gets Silhouette."
"Wait, wait, wait, no, oh shit!" Bes yelled. "Damn it, Isis!"
"Agreed," Isis said. "The last of your mortal selves will be playing a gods game to turn the First Tear of Ra and her offspring into deities after death."
"Eventually?" How did he mess up? They would eventually, they needed to beat Zorc to save Silhouette.
"Good. I will ready the board."
What? "What do you mean ready the board? We didn't do anything!" Yugi countered her as she took both Téa and Anzu away.
"You guys, you are still those guys," Bes said to them. "By consenting orally with the version of every other one of you? It's enough to put the game underway." He groaned. "The game isn't accepted, but it's underway. The gods game isn't with Zorc either, it's with Isis."
Isis returned again. "There, the board is ready. It's nice to know the little girl is no longer trapped in the dreams and hallucinations of Zorc now, isn't it?"
"Bring them back, this agreement was just discussion and you know that!" Atem commanded. "You need to get all parties to agree, and install payment!"
"Yeah, we really know about the payment process," Yugi agreed.
"What payment? We are not playing with cards of any kind. No sacrifices need to be made. No one gets hurt. It's just simple games. No explosions, Sillies. I am not Zorc, I am not here to wreak havoc. I am trying to stop the havoc you are trying to wreak."
"They aren't wreaking much," Bes said to her. "Seriously, their power is almost bled dry. They are almost as powerful as their mortal counterparts."
"You are playing a dangerous game, Bes," Isis warned him. "You have been helping them, not just as a ride. Advice. Showing them who to play with. You have sided with them. In this game, I am now against them."
"Oh. Damn." Bes didn't look so well.
"How many centuries did it take before the Parts of Hathor wasn't an embarrassment in the Lands of the Gods?" Isis questioned him. "No friends. No one to turn to. No games to play. People to chat with. They were rejected, because of what they had done."
"Hey, hey, hey. Taking a potential god and splitting him into two is a lot different than giving some new guys the basic tour, and some basic help," he insisted. "Which is all I did. Sorry, guys. Different cab service from now on." He disappeared.
Shoot! "Bes?"
"Being estranged from others for centuries is taxing. You may be great future allies, but it is quite a risk," Isis told them. "Few will take that chance."
"Bes did one more favor for you though."
Yugi and Atem both looked behind them. Bastet and Sekhmet were there. They bowed toward Isis, like always.
"Mother of Horus. Wife and sister of Osiris. We honor your presence. We honor your wisdom and your help through the ages."
"Oh, just betray me already," Isis said like she was bored of them. "You get back on everyone's good side for a short time, and you are already doing this again? Why?"
"Bastet wants happiness for the situation," Sekhmet said. "I make Bastet happy. That, and Silhouette doesn't deserve that."
"Oh. It's just a game of hide and seek and tag, paired with I Spy and Marco Polo." She smiled. "Four fun, silly, and simple games that children can play. If I win? You become gods, like you are supposed to be. You will choose one set of the First Tear of Ra as your brides, and I will do as I see fit with the rest. If you win, you already know that your precious First Tears of Ra and her offspring, will become deities after death."
"You cannot make any form of us accept that deal!" Atem tried again.
"Hm. Well, the board is already set. It's up to them to decide," Isis said. "Or, you can just stop all of this and become gods?"
"No!" They both yelled.
"The only thing you have control of now, is to add any more players to the game," Bastet warned them. "I'm sure Isis has someone in mind for tag."
"Will Zorc still be threatening the other dimension of us?" Yugi asked her.
"Of course not," Isis said. "Why would he bother? He just gets to have a fun game, and reap the rewards afterwards of whatever I will give him."
"If we lose, Silhouette still goes to Bakura, not him!" Atem corrected her.
"I want a correction," Yugi stated to Isis. "If we win, they aren't rewarded with god or goddess power until after they each are dead without god or goddess interference."
"That's right," Atem agreed. "Yes, the living need their Earthly bodies. Did you take those too?"
"The living bodies? No, but in order to play the game, they aren't going to be very active," she stated. "Good call on the 'not giving power until after they are dead'. Well done, Yugi."
"Where are they?"
"That's part of the game. Someone is going to go, uneven good vs. evil never ends well. At the end of the game, if I win, I will let you have a choice."
"Silhouette would go to Bakura," Atem repeated, "if that is the choice."
"You will be able to choose between Silhouette, Masika, or Anzu becoming the demon's. Not everyone needs to go. I will also be nice and not offer Hikaru up in any way. Win or lose, he will stay safe. Isn't that nice of me? Oh, it'll be such a fun game. I can't give you any more details though, until everything is signed and sealed."
"If Zorc can enter, we can too," Yugi said. "Atem and I."
"Atem stated that you would not be involved in a god's game."
"That was before the deal," Bastet countered her.
"Well? Okay, you caught me. Everyone gets something to do with the fun game," Isis said.
"We don't have a choice," both Atem and Yugi said together.
"Bastet?" Yugi asked. "Could you . . .?"
"Yes. I will tell them," she answered as she disappeared.
