Capítulo 20: Chapter 20 Like the entrance exam?

"What's going on?" one student asked.

"Things just got serious all of a sudden," another commented.

The students in the classroom became quiet and puzzled.

The noisy scene disappeared, and even Fang Li and Horikita Suzune raised their heads to look at the podium.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, who had been resting his head on the table, lifted his head and looked ahead.

Seeing this, Chabashira Sae nodded.

"Since the end of the month is coming, there's a small exam that you need to complete," she said, picking up a pile of papers that looked like an examination paper.

All the students in the class groaned and complained.

"Hey, did we really have to take an exam?" one student asked.

"It's always been easy before, why change it now?" another student added.

"I thought this school was supposed to be easy. I didn't sign up for any difficult exams," someone else chimed in.

Naturally, students who enjoyed taking exams were hard to come by.

However, Chabashira Sae was indifferent to the complaints of the entire class.

"This time the exam will only serve as a reference for the future. It won't be reflected in your final results, so there's no risk. Of course, no cheating," she said firmly.

In response to her statement, Chabashira Sae asked the students in the front row to pass out the test papers.

Although the students continued to complain, they relaxed a bit upon hearing that the results wouldn't have any impact, and passed the test paper back to the last row.

Fang Li received the test paper and read through it carefully. The paper included topics from the five major subjects, such as Japanese, Mathematics, and English, and each subject had several small questions. The exam seemed fairly easy and straightforward. Fang Li went through the questions thoroughly and quickly confirmed that each subject had four questions, which made a total of twenty questions. Each question carried five points, and the perfect score was 100 points.

However, Fang Li's first impression was that the difficulty level of the questions was quite irregular. The difficulty of the questions varied greatly, and the starting questions were surprisingly simple, almost disappointing. The questions were two levels lower than the entrance exam, and even junior high students could answer them all. But at the end of the exam paper, the difficulty level of several questions was very different from the previous ones. These questions seemed more suited for third-year high school students, rather than junior high students.

"This exam paper looks like an error, but there should be no such possibility?" whispered Ayanokouji Kiyotaka.

On the other hand, Horikita Suzune had already picked up a ball pen and started writing without hesitation. Her indifferent expression suggested that she could solve even the last few problems and achieve a near-perfect score.

Fang Li turned his pen and looked at Chabashira Sae, feeling somewhat confused. However, Chabashira Sae was just looking back at him with a tick on the corner of her mouth, before starting to proctor shortly afterward. Ayanokouji Kiyotaka also began answering the same question, even though his lack of interest indicated that he would only score 50-mark, just like he did in the entrance exam.

"That being the case, I will do the same as the entrance exam," Fang Li said before putting down the pen in his hand. Chabashira Sae noticed this process with a keen eye.

...

As the exam drew to a close, Chabashira Sae announced its end when the bell rang.

"Alright, pass your papers forward," she commanded.

Starting from the back of Fang Li's group, the examination papers were passed forward one by one until they eventually gathered in Chabashira Sae's hands.

Without looking back, she took the papers and left the classroom.

By this point, the students in the class seemed to have been liberated, and one by one, they got up.

"Did you see the last few questions? They were super hard!"

"Yeah, I doubt whether the teacher made a mistake."

"What are you talking about? Even the previous questions were difficult!"

"Really? Are you a primary school student?"

The classmates joked and talked amongst themselves.

Of course, not long after, they started discussing where to go to play.

"Let's go to karaoke tonight."

"Singing? I have a sore throat."

"And we're almost out of points."

"Let's find a place where we can spend fewer points."

Whether they were boys or girls, they all had similar discussions.

It seemed that the approach of the end of the month and the exhaustion of their points had made the students' actions somewhat restrained.

"Ah, come on, next month!"

"I want to continue enjoying my life!"

A few unpopular boys in Ayanokouji Kiyotaka's group shouted like this.

Although this was basically the voice of the students in the class, they shouted unbridledly, giving people a feeling of wanting to stay away.

"you don't deserve to be in the same grade as me," Horikita Suzune said coldly to Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, who was sitting next to her.

"...As usual, you're not one to hold back your words, even though we're not even close friends," Ayanokouji Kiyotaka replied with a slight narrowing of his eyes, letting out a sigh as he sat there.

The next moment, Horikita Suzune redirected her attention to Fang Li.

"I just glanced at your paper," Horikita Suzune scrutinized Fang Li and said bluntly, "you left it blank, didn't you?"

"Yeah," Fang Li replied without looking at her, "what's the problem?"

"I don't understand why you did it," Horikita Suzune continued aggressively, "you didn't even attempt the questions at the back. you didn't even attempt the front questions. why did you leave it completely blank?"

"It won't affect my grades anyway, right?" Fang Li laughed without hesitation, "Why waste my energy?"

Hearing this, Horikita Suzune fell silent, but continued to stare at Fang Li.

"I was wondering," Horikita Suzune began again, "could you be the person that the Student President mentioned on the day of the entrance exam..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Kushida Kikyou interrupted.

"What are you guys talking about? Mind if I join?" Kushida Kikyou approached them, wearing a cheerful and sweet smile on her face.

Horikita Suzune immediately shut her mouth and picked up her bag.

"Ah, Horikita-san," Kushida Kikyou quickly spoke up, "we were going to Keyaki Mall together. Would you like to.....?"

But before Kushida Kikyou could finish her invitation, Horikita Suzune cut her off.

"No," she replied curtly and quickly left, without letting Kushida Kikyou recover.
