Now back in the apartment, I got right into the chat.
Matt: Okay, there's a lot.
Amelia: What'd you find out?
Matt: That Talon is a much more significant threat than any of us thought. They have so many people in their pockets they could run a fast-food franchise.
Amelia: That's an interesting way of putting it.
Uzui: So, they have a lot of people?
Matt: Yes, they do. They have a lot of people, important people. But I was able to get information about some of their bases. It's definitely not all of them since I don't doubt they have some secret ones, but it's a good start. I also found some communication between a high-ranking Talon officer and some grunts about plans to attack the Oslo Facility in a week.
Guts: So what's the plan?
Matt: The best course of action right now would be to have Uzui and Yoruichi act as vigilantes to kill the people we know are affiliated with Talon but their deaths wouldn't cause too many waves. They could also attack the bases we got from the info while Ciri and I do the same through Blackwatch after we take care of the Oslo Attack. Guts could act as a mercenary for hire and hopefully join Talon so we could have someone else inside with Ame since nothing too important happens in Junkertown. Meanwhile, Ame should try to gain Talon's trust and climb the ranks.
Yoruichi: Too slow. Why can't we just kill them all?
Matt: Because we won't be able to kill them all and that'll cause them to go into hiding to bide their time. We want them to think we're only getting lucky with our attacks before we strike decisively. And I doubt the DGC would accept a half-hearted wipe of Talon.
Amelia: Sounds like a plan o7
Yoruichi: What's o7 mean?
Amelia: It's a person saluting o7.
Yoruichi: Oh. o7 understood.
Uzui: So where do you want us to strike first?
Matt: Where are you again?
Uzui: According to the backstory I got, we're currently in Seoul, South Korea.
Matt: There are a few Talon bases there as well as some people you can safely take care of. I'll send you the info on the bases and the people once we're done here.
Uzui: o7
Guts: What about me?
Matt: There's a Talon contact in Junkertown. I'll send you the info on them once we're done here. How to ingratiate yourself with them is up to you but I suggest accidentally bumping into them and starting a conversation naturally. Or get drunk with them. That should work if they're an Aussie.
Guts: o7
Matt: As for the Null Sector side of things, I didn't get much information from the Talon servers but once I get to the leaders, we'll be able to work from there. Okay, keep in touch everyone. Stay safe. o7
Done with the conversation, I then sent the info about Uzui and Yoruichi's targets and the Talon contact in Junkertown for Guts. It was very convenient that the DGC allowed you to send information from your brain.
"So, how are we going to do it? Just tell Reyes that we came across this information or come up with another lie?" asked Ciri as she wrapped her arms around me as we both sat on the bed.
"No. We'll wait for the Oslo Attack, stop it, and plant some evidence on the attacker that will lead us to one of their bases in Norway. Then when we attack the base, I'll use my nanites on a computer there and that will give us the pretext to go to where Amelia is being held and that's where we'll fake getting the rest of the info. Or just pretend the info came from the first base so we can make use of it faster." I said.
"Sounds good. How are we going to explain being in Oslo? A surprise visit to Liao? Though we're not on assignment right now so it won't matter if we leave Rome." asked Ciri.
In our backgrounds, I was friends with Liao and the founding members of Overwatch due to my being in the organization from nearly the beginning. But after joining Blackwatch, Ciri became friends with them partly because of Reinhardt and partly because of me. She was even good friends with both Liao and Mercy, though she was closer to Mercy because they were similar in age, even if Mercy didn't like that Ciri was part of Blackwatch.
"I'll call her. I want to use my nanites to get as much tech as I can now that I'm here so visiting Liao is par for the course. Might as well call her to let her know we'll be visiting. We can also stop at Overwatch HQ for some more perusing. Especially Angela's research."
"Are you sure you don't have a thief title? You should check."
"Now that you mention it, I was going to check to see what titles I got for my background." I said before opening up the DGC.

Title: Genius, Youngest Doctor Ever, Doctor, Blood Axe, Owl, Commander
"Just Commander. I don't even have a nickname." I said.
"Hehe." said Ciri with a smirk.
"What? Don't tell me you have a nickname?"
"Maybe."
"Well, that's just not fair. What is it?"
"Spectre."
"Damn, that's a cool one too."
"You already have a few, no need to be jealous. But I will make it up to you." she said seductively.
"This is way better than a title."
~
"Matt? It's rare for you to call. What do you need?" said Liao.
"Why do you think I need something? Can't I just call an old friend to see what she's up to?" I asked with a grin.
"I can hear your grin over the phone. Out with it, I'm a little busy." she said as the noise of her tinkering came over the phone.
"Fair enough. I have a new "toy" that I want to show you and I could use your help with it."
"Toy? What kind of toy?" she asked with an intrigued voice.
"An interesting one."
"Hmm. Now I'm curious."
"That was the plan."
"Fine. Come on over when you can. I'm here all the time anyway."
"Sounds a little lonely."
"I'm used to it."
"What about Morrison? What happened to that?" I asked.
"He was too busy, I was too busy. Even when we were together, we were both thinking about other things. Too caught up in our work, you know how it is. Actually, you probably don't considering you both work together."
"We have our moments. But you should really give it another chance. Everyone deserves to be happy. Not to mention you're getting up there in age."
"Tch, just wait until you're here, and let's see if you still say that to my face."
"Haha. Alright, I'll be there sometime this week, just have to pop on over to Overwatch HQ first."
"For what?"
"Some help with my toy."
"Now I'm really curious."
"You'll have to wait and see. How's Echo doing by the way?"
"Good. Really good. But I won't say any more until you're here. A little motivation to make sure you come."
"Wouldn't flake on you unless I had to you know that Liao."
"Alright, alright. I'm about to get busy, so I'll see you soon."
"See you soon. Take care." I said before hanging up the phone.
"All good?" asked Ciri as she watched TV.
"All good. But I am worried about her." I said as I sat down next to her on the couch.
"Are you emotionally attached? I thought the background didn't come with emotions." she asked.
"It doesn't, but the memories alone are enough to make me care. It's like wanting someone to be okay even if you don't know them. You might not know them, but you don't really wish for bad things to happen to them. Unless they do something bad then that caring becomes dislike and you wish them the worst."
"I get it. It's like reading a book and hoping for good things to happen to the characters."
"Exactly. But in this case, we can change the story so the characters do have good endings. And I'm a good person so why wouldn't I."
"You are a good person. Now, shush, the movie's about to start."
Ninety-seventh chapter done and as always let me know what you think.
