Percy Stanton could only feel sorrow.

Sorrow as his whole world was in chaos.

Percy slowly closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths, then slowly straightened his body, took a couple of steps back, and distanced himself from Isabel Smith. He looked at her eyes, cold and somewhat indifferent, but deep down, there was nothing but sorrow.

After a while, he finally said, "Isabel Smith, on what basis do you think now that my work is smooth sailing, I would accept a company that is barely managing to survive? Worst case scenario, my once famous legend will pay the price!"

Isabel was shaken by Percy's aggressive tone. She lowered her eyelids and opened her mouth, in a calm voice: "Percy, I sincerely want to hire you. I've slept with you for two months. Although it's not a long time, there should be some compensation. If you don't need money, then a person can do."

Isabel had always had a sense of superiority and arrogance in her heart because she had a good background, and people either treated her politely or respectfully, rarely offending her. Even now that she had fallen on hard times, the sense of arrogance deep in her bones still remained.

If it weren't for the sudden changes she had experienced over the years, being exiled to the United States, and realizing the coldness and warmth of the human world, she would never have said such self-deprecating words.

But now, she was different from her past self. She no longer had the capital to be arrogant, so she could only endure, become as tough as steel, and have no other choice.

Percy's eyes were suddenly filled with countless storms, and she was actually so casually using herself as a bargaining chip?

Percy looked Isabel up and down, his voice full of sarcasm: "What part of you do you think satisfies me enough to sign a contract for you?"

"I don't think there is any part of me that hasn't satisfied Mr. Stanton?" Isabel replied neither arrogantly nor humbly. She looked back at Percy, her lips curved, and her tone calm as she made her last gamble, "Otherwise, why would Mr. Stanton forcefully take me night after night, over and over again?"

Percy was taken aback by Isabel's counterattack, then chuckled and said, "Isabel Smith, are you treating yourself as a commodity and bargaining chip, negotiating with me?"

Enough, Percy, how much longer are you going to be crazy for her?

Since she could be so clean-cut and not muddy the waters, why can't you?

A hint of bitterness surfaced in Percy's heart, and his gaze became somewhat lost, his tone still stiff, "Do you think you're worthy?"

After that, Percy didn't even look at Isabel and walked out the restroom door.

When Isabel came out of the restroom, Percy had already left the banquet. It was Maxwell Group as the host tonight, and Henry Maxwell needed to greet everyone, so Isabel didn't bother him and went directly to the balcony outside the banquet hall.

When Percy left the banquet, he drove home straight.

Percy and Isabel lived on the same floor.

He stepped out of the elevator and stood in the corridor, looking at Isabel's room for a while before walking directly to the door opposite hers. He took out his key, but before he could insert it into the keyhole, the door was opened from inside.

It was the hourly worker Percy had hired because he had to attend the wine party of the Maxwell Group tonight, so she stayed at home to take care of Raymond Thompson.

"Mr. Stanton, you're back?"

Percy nodded, and while changing his shoes at the doorstep, he heard the sound of the TV coming from the living room, and asked, "Raymond hasn't gone to bed yet?"

"Yes, Mr. Stanton." The hourly worker cheerfully added, "Raymond is watching a cartoon."
