Capítulo 1: Chapter 1: ???

Just a side story while I figure out what to write for my next big thing

/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/

When I first woke up in this world, I thought I'd be the main character, you know? I figured I'd be out there slaying bad guys, becoming a big hero. But nope. Instead, I found myself in a place that, while weird, seemed totally normal. There were just regular humans everywhere you looked, nothing out of the ordinary. And to top it off, the system everyone talked about? Completely useless. My dreams of being a hero were shattered pretty quickly.

The initial shock of the peculiar note had certainly rattled me, yet as the weeks rolled by without a hint of anything extraordinary or magical, my apprehension gradually waned. In this strange new world, devoid of mystical occurrences, I found solace in the routine of running my quaint coffee shop in peace.

Currently my shop was empty something that I did not mind as it was currently early late in the afternoon a time where business normally slowed, but I did not mind it much as it gave me time to think and relax and read books which were about the only entertaining thing these days.

*Ring*

As I lounged behind the counter, engrossed in some book by a guy named Riccardo—who seriously needed a crash course in writing, I mean, who in their right mind kills off a major character in a car accident just two pages before the end?—my annoyance was interrupted by the arrival of a new customer.

This guy had olive skin and dark brown hair, rocking a sharp dark suit paired with a snazzy red bow tie and a stylish set of blue eyeglasses and appearance that screamed scientist or some important job position, but I guess it was to early to guess that as I soon stood up to greet him at the counter.

"Hello, sir! Welcome to Velvet Bean. How can I help you?" I greeted the man, my eyes still fixed on him. As he drew nearer, I couldn't help but notice the weariness etched into his features, his stubbled chin adding to his slightly haggard appearance.

"Can I get a coffee or two or three, yeah three" That said as then went on to explain how he wanted each prepared something that wasn't to hard to follow.

"Sure thing, three coffees coming right up," I replied, noting the exhaustion evident in his demeanor. With a sigh, he leaned against the counter, appearing on the verge of collapse—a scenario I couldn't allow.

Hurrying to prepare the trio of coffees he requested, I kept a vigilant eye on him, noticing how his glasses now hung precariously from his face.

"Here's your coffee. Feel free to take a seat anywhere you like, just not behind the counter," I said, receiving a sluggish nod from the man. After swiftly completing the transaction, he turned and made his way to a table situated by the window, offering a picturesque view of the endless expanse of the sea stretching out for miles. Settling into his seat, he began to savor his coffee, seemingly finding solace in the tranquil scene beyond the glass.

'Weird dude, hope hes alright' I thought idly as I went back to reading my book to finish the two pages from before and as if waiting for this the man that previously looked about ready to collapse now stood before me holding a five which he put into the Tip jar before speaking.

"Thanks for the coffee. I'll definitely swing by next time I'm in the city. By the way, I'm Simon," the man offered, his sudden sociable demeanor catching me off guard. However, I opted not to dwell on it, reciprocating with a nod of acknowledgment.

"Brook," I replied, extending a friendly hand. "Hope to see you again soon. A loyal customer is always welcome here."

With a nod of understanding, Simon bid his farewell and exited the café, leaving me to bask in the tranquility of the empty shop. With the day winding down, I decided to close up and head home, eager to unwind after another eventful shift.
