70.83% Building The Technology / Chapter 135: Regenerator

Capítulo 135: Regenerator

It was around two hours past midday when the workers had eat their lunch and this was the time that the construction of the glass plant started.

Make no mistake, even if Virtya didn't have a watch to know the time, any of his knights could calculate time using the shape of their shadow under the sun.

The trenches and canals were dug very quickly as this was where they would lay the foundation of this plant. Most of the part of the factory would be made of the refractory bricks and that was why most of the material brought here were the refractory bricks.

Here, Virtya would be overseeing the overall construction but he would be mostly overseeing the construction of the combustion chambers and the regenerator. This regenerator would be used to heat air before the air was allowed into the furnace and the combustion chambers.

The combustion chambers would provide the space for coal which would be what Virtya was going to use to melt the raw materials for glass. In most cases, electricity and natural gas was what was used in the melting of glass in his past life but Virtya didn't have both and he only had coal, therefore, he had to make a different model of the factory that would melt the raw materials for glass with the use of coal.

It was almost impossible to achieve the needed temperature while using coal but Virtya had come with a way to make sure that the required temperature was reached and that was why he was always around to view the construction of the combustion chamber.

The melt tank which was like the shape of the house would be situated between two combustion chambers.

Of course, the coal that would be used was not supposed to have moisture or any chloride and the ash from the heated coal was not supposed to mix with molten raw materials of glass.

Therefore, Virtya would have to construct many slanted ports that would connect the combustion chambers and the furnace/ melt tank. These ports would only allow hot flames from the combustion chambers to pass and not the coal or ash.

However, the flames from the combustion chambers alone could not enable a steady rise in temperature and it was with the help of the refractory bricks which would help in maintaining the temperature because they were not affected by great heat and therefore, they couldn't allow room for heat loss.

In addition, Virtya would use preheated raw materials and heated air which was a boon to ensure that the temperature of the furnace didn't plummet.

"Please add on more concrete." Virtya said to Tanya.

Tanya glanced at him with a look of uncertainty before nodding her head and then she scooped the concrete coming from the mixer and poured it onto the wheelbarrow.

The concrete mixer was connected to the rotary mechanism of the turbine which enabled its rotation.

Actually, when Virtya came back from the forest, he found out that the materials that would be used for the construction were still being brought to the site. The officials from the construction company who would be helping Virtya in overseeing this construction had already brought in the needed workers who would be doing the labour. Virtya had to speak to the labourers a few words before they picked up their tools and started digging out the trenches and the canals.

Of course, Virtya didn't have the attires or the uniforms to equip these construction worker and therefore, these workers would be working just the way they were. Most of these workers were wearing the clothes that they didn't like and most of these clothes were tattered or too dirty. After all, this was a dirty work and doing this work with a new cladding would make it old and too dirty to be washed again with simply the first visit to this place.

However, Virtya was still wearing the clothes that he wore this morning.

Throwing a last glance at Tanya, Virtya held the handle of the wheelbarrow and pulled the effort upwards before he started pushing it forward.

Virtya's veins bulged out as he struggled to push the wheelbarrow on the wet ground.

One should know that where the glass plant was being erected was on a plateau which was housing the cement plant and this flat surface was on top of a slightly tall hill. The plateau made it to look like someone cut the upper part of this hill.

However, the hill was more rocky than being muddy. At least because the site for the glass plant was on a hill, this enabled it to escape the muddy terrain of the valley.
