Capítulo 31: 31. Good meant advice...
The way onwards was quite interesting for Shu Ya. Near the seaside, there were still some trees and green land, but deeper they went towards their town the greyer surrounding became and less and fewer trees could be seen. The grass was still green and soft as it was wet and not too bright so the sheep that would appear from time to time had enough to eat and were quite ready for winter as it seems. The thick white wool was protecting them from the harshness of winters and the few keepers could be heard laughing and greeting everyone.
She liked these people. They all had such a big smile on their faces even tho this kind of life seemingly was quite hard. They would greet them with smiles or if far away they would wave their hands and loudly call. Everyone greeted them back.
Shu Ya saw two small girls like herself in traditional clothes walking with stocks and watching over the herds. ''Mingyu, can you do me a favour.'' She called him and he rushed on his horse to her side.
''Yes, miss?'' He could see her pointing at the girls.
''Bring two toys to them. Something pretty. Maybe the butterflies with moving wings or birds? They are cute.'' As soon she said that he rushed back and let n of servants on carriage search the box with toys carefully for those toys.
Then he went down to surprised girls that met him with big smiles and presented the gifts. ''Our young miss Bai Shu Ya wanted to gift you these. She hopes you like it.''
The girls were exhilarated about gifts and happily waved with both hands towards Shu Ya that waved back.
When Mingyu came back he had a small smile on his serious face and reported. ''Miss, they said I should thank you. They like it so much.''
She smiled and looked one more time towards the place where girls were stills standing and waving their hands. ''They are just two girls. All girls like pretty things.''
Bai Fu sighed. Their Bai clan was a great clan until they were not punished to go here. Luckily the Emperor never took their nobility away and just punished them to stay on the north. But most of Bai family members were used to be high nobility and looked down on commoners. Luckily this child is so pure. But for how long? If she stays withing Bai estate how long will it take to change into one of those brats that are about to ruin the Bai family name?
It was some time afternoon when they choose to make a short stop and eat just a little bit. Everyone saw small miss bai eating cold dumplings and were not even daring to complain. To eat cold food was hard for grown-ups and she as a child was doing this willingly so they wouldn't waste time.
Not long after that, she entered the carriage and everyone moved. It was late afternoon when they finally arrived at Nakal. Luckily it was still not night so Shu Ya counted how long she will stay inside. If she is not very courteous maybe shorter than she should, but she had no plan to offend her grandparents. She sighed.
Bai Fu came near her window and saw her sighing. ''Don't worry. Most of them don't even want to meet you. The few that do will just check you up and leave quickly after that. You can talk about your idea in front of them as then their hearts will settle down.''
Shu Ya leaned on the window and stared at the walls of the town. It was as small as she saw before. Few thousand houses. But considering this is quite northern, this kind of town could be considered here quite big. ''Uncle is it better to live here or central regions?''
He thought for a moment and shrugged. ''Same. In central regions maybe everything is more... colourful but people are stuffy and greedy. Here there isn't much to find, but people are open and happy. If our family ever gets a chance to go back to the capital I got permission form Elders to stay here on the north. I feel free here. When you rest a little bit and if there are a few good days we will come to visit you and we will teach you how to ride. It's essential to learn that. No matter boy or girl.''
Shu Ya nodded in excitement. ''I don't mind. Horse riding might be hard but I would like to learn it.''
''Then its done deal. If there is no rain or snow I will come by your farm and bring the horse my wife usually use. Its calm small horse and you will like it.'' Bai Fu smiled at her while his heart filled with warmth.
Not long after that, the passed finally the walls and the business of the city that was hidden behind walls could be seen. With curiosity she looked at stalls and stores she passed and almost chocked by the prices she heard. She was happy that she bought rice on time. It would be disastrous if she didn't.
But the funny thing was that she heard the prices of animals being ridiculously cheap. She sighed and shook her head. ''Ridiculous no matter how much I think about it.''
Her uncle nodded in agreement. ''Yes. But that is how we live here. That is the reason I said you should bring your rice home. If they knew you had so much rice, they would leech of you for free. Don't do that to yourself.''
Shu Ya chuckled. ''I am not that simple uncle as you think or I wouldn't have survived this long in that household.''
He was stunned by her words and had to accept that fact. She needed really to survive. ''I still worry. Please be careful, they have ten tongues. And all ten have poison on them.''
She nodded and saw them getting in the street that was much quieter. What she saw then astonished her a bit...
