What was he doing?
The sudden, intimate touch of his lips on her neck sent shivers down her spine, igniting an intense and unfamiliar desire within her. His lips pressed harder against her skin, each kiss sending jolts that tightened her stomach.
It was the first time she had been this close to a man, and as his lips trailed up and down her neck, her breath hitched in short, shallow gasps. Her heart hammered against her ribcage, and she struggled to fight the unfamiliar tingling sensation in her stomach.
He wasn't drinking her blood as he had claimed; instead, his lips sparked a wildfire within her, a sinful act that was undeniably satisfying. The mixture of confusion, fear, and longing for these newfound feelings consumed her thoughts. This was wrong, Eve knew, and as she placed her hands on his chest, feeling the firmness beneath and his heartbeat, she prepared to push him away when a throaty cough interrupted them from behind.
She shoved him away quickly, turning to see a blonde-haired man standing beside Lady Oriana, whose face contorted with barely-contained rage. Sebastian continued to gaze at her before his expression slowly shifted into a frown. As he turned, Eve replaced the book on the shelf, her cheeks burning with embarrassment from being caught in such a compromising situation.
The man who had interrupted them wore an amused smile, only fueling Sebastian's anger as he approached. The man whispered something into the Sebastian's ear, and his face hardened, an intimidating aura enveloping the room.
Eve observed him from where she stood, taking in his proud shoulders and the taut muscles of his back. Sensing a piercing stare, she turned to find Oriana glaring at her threateningly, and she swallowed nervously. As she walked, her foot caught the hem of her dress, and she stumbled to the ground. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as Sebastian turned to look at her, his hair falling over his eyes, casting a dark shadow on his face.
"Sorry, I can be clumsy sometimes," she said, rising from the ground. Wait, why was she even explaining herself? She should be angry with him for what he had done. They weren't even married yet.
Yet? She nearly facepalmed. Where did that thought come from? This man was turning her into something else; he was trouble. Sighing, she approached the trio.
"Are you okay?" he asked, noticing her lips moving and her unsteady stance. "Should I take you to your room?"
"No... I'm fine. I just – need some fresh air," she replied, gritting her teeth.
"I'll accompany her outside the castle, Your Highness," Oriana interjected, still glaring at the girl.
"Hmm," was all he said before exiting the library with the man.
Oriana watched Eve from the corner of her eye as they left the castle and ventured into the courtyard.
"I've always heard that humans have morals and respect them more than we do," Oriana said, looking ahead as Eve turned to face her.
"Of course, we do. I doubt vampires have any," Eve retorted.
Oriana's jaw clenched at Eve's words, but she managed a smile and turned towards her. "If you had any morals, you wouldn't be throwing yourself at the King," she said.
"I will be marrying the King, and we will become more intimate. I'm only being familiar with the feelings for the future," Eve explained slowly, with a smile on her lips. Though she had said this, she wasn't actually looking forward to building an intimate relationship with the King. She want to be far away from him.
She was only speaking back at the woman that was trying to soil her name because of the shameless vampire.
Oriana's smile fell and she snapped, "Do you really think you would end up with the King, especially when the Queen wants someone else for him?" She wasn't pretending to like the human anymore.
"Hmm.. I don't think the King is someone who follows orders. I think he has his own rules and he follows them," Eve responded.
"You must be thinking I'm trying to replace you, don't bother yourself about that, lady Oriana. After all, I'm only here because of the truce and it is a two-year agreement. I'll leave here finally someday," she added, smiling at the lady. If she could, Oriana would have ripped off her head but that would mean starting a new war with the humans. Even though they were weaker creatures, the vampires rely on them for their blood, the truce was also important for them as to the humans who wants safety.
Before she could speak, a maid arrived in front of them who bowed her head. "Lady Evelyn, his Highness asked me to escort you to your room," Ezra said.
"If you would excuse me, lady Oriana. I'm sure you can continue the tour alone," Eve said and walked away, leaving the vampiress who was fuming.
Before she could reach her room, she met Sebastian walking in the corridor with two other man alongside the blonde haired vampire. She kept her head low as they got closer, not wanting to talk to the vampire, but he didn't bother to spare her a glance as he walked past. She breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Are you okay, lady Evelyn?" Ezra asked, her face was pink and she looked out of breath.
"I am fine, Ezra. Thank you."
When Evelyn got to the room, Ezra went out of the room and she laid on the bed, looking up at the white ceiling. What was she going to do now? If she was home, they would be tons of works for her to do but here, there was nothing. Well, except trying to stay away from the King. That was the only thing she had to do.
She breathed deeply, it wasn't up to a day and she was already getting exasperated. With all the walks and time at the library and the talks with O and embarrassment, it didn't take long before she fell asleep with her brown tresses sprawled out on her pillow
