Capítulo 4: "Devour? Talent?"

Scrolling through them.

His eyes settled on the A Rank and S Rank talents.

These were the true game-changers.

If he wanted to keep up with opponents like Kira—or surpass them.

He'd need to devour talents at their level.

As for the rest of the talents below that…

"Spending on anything less than an A or S rank… it's not worth it," he muttered to himself.

"The points are too valuable. And besides… if I want to devour someone else's talent, it has to be in areas where I'm lacking."

So instantly he had a plan in mind.

Save up enough points and devour high-level talents that cover his weaknesses.

After that he turned to the recently unlocked Talents section.

He tapped on the Talents section.

[Talents: 1/~ (Av. Rating: A)]

1. God's Eye (A).

Isagi froze.

"God's Eye? I already have an A-level talent?"

He reads through the description.

"Allows the user to see the entire field in a way that others cannot. It enhances spatial awareness and decision-making, enabling the user to predict movements, read patterns, and manipulate the play even before it happens."

That clears up a bunch of things.

His A-level Game Intelligence wasn't just an abstract stat.

It was the manifestation of God's Eye.

A content smile tugged at his lips.

Isagi closed the interface, the glowing screen fading from view.

He stood up, stretching his legs as the cool breeze of the evening brushed against his face.

There is still so much to learn.

So much to uncover.

The path to becoming the best had just begun.

Over the next few days, Ichinan High plunged into a grueling training regimen.

Coach Kurosawa pushed them harder.

Drilling them on everything from stamina and speed to advanced plays designed to exploit opponents' weaknesses.

Isagi could feel himself transforming with each session.

He worked relentlessly on utilizing his A-level talent God's Eye into his sessions.

It had always been a part of him.

But he is now more clear of what his talent entails.

That truly began to reshape his games.

On the practice field, he found himself reading plays faster.

Positioning himself more effectively.

And making decisions under pressure with greater accuracy.

In the evenings, he studied footage of past Nationals games.

Focusing on teams like Aoba Academy.

Especially Shinichi Namba—a player whose playmaking was rumored to be S- or higher.

Namba's talent to control the pace of the game, manipulate defenders, and set traps for opponents was extraordinary.

But Isagi wasn't discouraged.

If anything, watching Namba's finesse only fueled his desire to refine his own playmaking.

His Visionary Playmaking might not have reached Namba's level yet.

But with the combined power of the System and his devour ability.

He was confident he could close that gap quickly.

One evening, after a particularly demanding practice.

Isagi returned home.

His mom sat at the kitchen table, sifting through mail.

"Hey, Yoichi, this letter came for you," she said, handing him an envelope sealed with a reputable logo.

Isagi's heart skipped a beat.

The Japan Football Association?

What could they want with him?

He quickly tore open the envelope, scanning the contents.

Isagi stared at the letter, his mind racing.

A training program for improving players?

This wasn't uncommon.

Could this be linked to the Nationals?

A sense of curiosity tugged at him.

This felt bigger than just another training program.

It felt like it was an opportunity he couldn't ignore.

Deep down, Isagi felt that this program could be the next step on his path to becoming a top-tier player.

That night, sleep eluded him.

Thoughts of the future, the program, and his goals swirled in his mind.

Was this fate guiding him?

In the next morning.

Isagi arrived at the Japan Football Association Training Facility.

A sprawling complex, nestled on the outskirts of the city.

The moment he stepped forward.

He could feel the weight of the place—the air crackled with promise.

As he walked through the entrance.

He noticed a familiar figure standing nearby—Ryosuke Kira, clad in his training gear.

Their eyes met.

Kira gave him a knowing smile.

"So, you're here too," he said, his voice calm yet carrying a hint of challenge.

"Looks like it," Isagi replied, taken aback by the coincidence.

"This program must be something special if they're gathering players like us here."

Kira nodded, his eyes narrowing with the same competitive fire.

"We may be in the same program, but once we hit the field, I won't go easy on you."

Isagi smiled, excitement coursing through him.

"You bet. Let's see who comes out on top."

As they stepped into the sprawling Japan Football Association Training Facility.

Their eyes widen with awe.

The place was immense, sleek, and imposing—everything about it screamed professionalism.

The high ceilings, the modern equipment, and the subtle buzz of anticipation in the air.

Made it feel as if he had crossed into another world entirely.

This was no ordinary training ground. This was where the future of Japanese football was being shaped.

As Isagi took a step further into the facility.

He couldn't help but notice the other players scattered around the large room.

All of them wore their high school uniforms.

And each one seemed to carry an undeniable aura of skill and confidence.

Some faces were familiar, others completely new—but they all shared one thing in common.

They were all forwards.

These were the talented players who had proven themselves on the field.

And now they were here for something bigger.

"Wow… that's a lot of guys," Isagi murmured under his breath.

Eyeing the group in front of him.

The sheer number of players was overwhelming, and the competition already felt fierce.

Kira, standing beside him, let out a soft chuckle.

"I think I recognize a few faces," he said.

His tone casual but sharp, as his eyes scanned the room.

Isagi raised an eyebrow.

"Really? You know some of them?"

Kira nodded.

"Yeah. That guy over there—the one with the sharp eyes and the dark hair—that's Okawa, the ace from Senno. He's their star forward. One of the top players in the region, for sure."

Isagi turned his attention to Okawa, who stood near the center of the room.

Okawa's posture was relaxed but commanding.

And Isagi could tell that this was a player who had the experience and skill to back up his reputation.

Kira then pointed toward a tall figure across the room.

"And that's Ishikari—the tallest player in high school. He's a beast in the air. No one can challenge him when it comes to aerial duels."

Isagi's gaze followed Kira's finger, landing on Ishikari.

Who was, indeed, a towering presence among the group.

His long limbs and broad shoulders gave him a commanding presence.

And Isagi could already picture how difficult it would be to beat him in a header battle.

Kira's eyes narrowed as he spotted another familiar face.

"Ah, there's Nishioka. The 'Messi of Aomori.' Kid's got unreal dribbling skills. If he gets a step on you, it's over."

Isagi's eyes shifted to Nishioka, who was standing off to the side.

Nishioka's smaller frame was almost deceptive.

But his agility and control over the ball were undeniable.

Isagi had heard rumors about him.

If there was one player who could slip past defenders without breaking a sweat, it was Nishioka.

Kira nodded, his gaze sharp and assessing.

"Every one of them. These are the best forwards from high schools all over Japan. And now we're all in here in the same building."

As Isagi absorbed the implications of Kira's words.

A sharp, almost abrasive voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Tch, test, one, two." The voice was cold.

Cutting through the tension in the room.
