Skylar's POV

"-it isn't bad here. I like this school." Brody said.

I wasn't exactly paying attention to whatever he had been saying, especially since I was tired as hell. I didn't get to have much sleep last night. Between those overwhelming thoughts and one specific nightmare about Alex, it was a bit hard to sleep. Every few minutes later I had to keep on reassuring myself that no one was breaking in my house, not when Mom and Dad were still here.

I just missed Alex.

"Hey." It was when Brody gently nudged my shoulder with his, that I looked at him. "Why do you seem so down today?"

I was counting by the seconds, waiting for this class to get over. Since the teacher wasn't present today, the substitute one had given us a free period. And that just gave the others to talk loudly, not letting me have even the slightest bit of peaceful silence.
