Capítulo 25: Ch. 13 Part 1
"Aunty Zhang it's me Yu ger, I'm coming to see you" Yu ger yelled and knocked on the door. After they finished with everything at home, they decided to wait and visit at night when the village folks had long gone into their homes and not many roam the village at night. They didn't went anymore rumours to circulate again about their family doing this or that. Lin Yu'an asked Yu ger to bring him to Aunty Zhang's house. "brother Yu and brother Yu'an come in, come in. Li'an and Luo you too." Feng Guozhi opened the door for them and welcomed them in, Lin Walked in calmly with his family of four.
He swept over the house lightly before turning his attention to Aunty Zhang Who came out from room along with uncle Feng to see them. This was his first time stepping into Uncle Feng's house, either it be the previous Lin Yu'an or him. "boy Lin and Yu ger what brings you here at this time?" Uncle Feng asked in doubt seeing them visit when it was time for people to be sleeping. "we came to discuss something with you and ask for your help in a matter." Lin Yu'an told him making both Aunty Zhang and uncle Feng frowned in doubt. They didn't want to doubt Lin Yu'an since he had long washed away the past stains, but to ask for their help it made them doubt since they didn't want to get involved in any messy businesses.
They chose to give him the benefit of the doubt and try give him a chance to explain himself, since Yu ger was the one who brought him they believed Yu ger wouldn't have brought him if it involved anything messy. Lin Yu'an saw their skeptical look but he chose to pretend not to notice, he knew even though he had long wash away the sins and stains of the previous Lin Yu'an but still they would affect him, so he wasn't surprised seeing them in wanting to be careful with things involving him. "Come and seat and talk, don't stand" Aunty Zhang pulled Yu ger by his hand and led him to seat, Lin Yu'an followed behind uncle Feng and sat too. The twins were taken away by Feng Mei and Feng Guozhi to play, leaving the elders ti discuss.
Lin Yu'an didn't want to beat around the bush, so as soon as they all were seated he brought out the matter which had them come to see them. "Aunty Zhang it's like this, in a few days I'll have to go to the county to treat someone. I'll be gone for long about a month to two, so I'll be taking Ayu and the kids along to play for a few days whilst we're there. The reason why I came to ask of your help is that i want to break down the house and rebuild it, Ayu and I wouldn't be around so we need to find someone to help us take over the building of the house, aunty Zhang and uncle Feng are the only people we consider family friends and are close to. I want to ask your help in taking over and help us find good builders and foreman to build the house for us. I have already drew the blueprint for the house, so you just need to watch over the project and I'll leave the money for the building to you."
Lin Yu'an said in one breath. Aunty Zhang and uncle Feng were very delighted to hear that Lin Yu'an considered them as family friends. Lin Yu'an was a type who repays good with good and evil with evil, and since getting to know Aunty Zhang's family he deemed them to be good people and since his family wanted to have a close relationship with them then he has no problem. Aunty Zhang had helped Ayu and the kids a lot in the past, so he can make an exception to befriend aunty Zhang's family. "But Ayu'an isn't it a waste of money to break down the house and rebuild again? why don't you just fix the broken parts and build a few more rooms to add!" Aunty Zhang suggested and her husband nodded along agreeing with her words. "Aunty Zhang that won't do, i want to build a bigger house and fence it all with a very tall fence. Also they're some buildings to be built in the house too. I'm not building mud houses but blue brick house, the blueprints is detailed so the builder wouldn't have a hard time understanding how i want it. Or you can find the builder before I leave and I'll explain to him."
Lin Yu'an explained more but they were reluctant to see him waste so much money. It's true that he was earning so much but they thought breaking down the house would require to be paid for and rebuilding it again, isn't that wasting money? "Aunty Zhang listen to Ayu'an, it's very important to him and i support what he wants to do." Yu ger spoke in his favor which made him smiled, infact he really didn't care whether aunty Zhang agreed with what he wanted to do or not. It was his money, his house and his choice and whatever he decided must be done, if it won't work with aunty Zhang he could go to the uncle Li rather. Aunty Zhang sighed regrettably "you young people don't know when you're wasting! Alright since both of you have decided just leave this work to this old woman, i will make sure it is done right for you before you get back!" she smacked her chest and gave them her words.
Lin Yu'an smiled in satisfactory, he took out a pouch from his chest containing silvers. Building a brick house costs about 30 to 50 taels normally but he took out 100 taels since his design wasn't the same as the houses built. He didn't know the costs for it but he thought to prepare more silvers in case. "Aunty Zhang this is 100 taels of silvers i prepared, i don't know how much the house will costs so i prepared more. If by chance some was to remain take it as your payment and if it doesn't reach when i come back I'll settle it and then give you your payment" Lin Yu'an said politely. But aunty Zhang was suddenly annoyed hearing him say that. "Nonsense! What is payments between us..." " Aunty Zhang please you have take the payment, if not then i have to go and find someone else to to the work for me. I'm hiring aunty Zhang as an overseer for my project, you'll have to leave your house works to do mine, it can't work if you don't want to be paid!"
Lin Yu'an didn't want to feel like he owed them anything, he wanted to settle the accounts with them like hiring and paying. He didn't want it to be like he was asking a favor from them. "Aunty Zhang it's unacceptable, i can't hire you to do a job for me and not pay you. Please uncle Feng talk to her to take the payments" he said calmly giving no way for negotiations or disagreement. It was either they accepted to work and be paid or let it be so he finds someone else to do the job. "Aunty Zhang, Ayu'an is right. This time around what Ayu'an is asking you to do is hard work. How can we ask you to work for us and not pay you, in the future when there's something like this, how can we have the face to come and ask you to assist us? Aunty Zhang Ayu'an and I would have to go back if you don't accept to be paid" Yu ger added.
He also felt that what Lin Yu'an was saying was accurate, if it would've been a small work he wouldn't insist if aunt Zhang didn't want to be paid for it. But this time around her family would have to leave their works and take care of his and Lin Yu'an's and that too for a long time, rejecting to be paid was unacceptable even to him. Seeing that they really wouldn't let her reject to be paid she knew she had to compromise or they might really go and look for assistance somewhere else. Uncle Feng sighed "you kids!.... fine we'll accept the payment. If some of the silvers were remain we'll take two taels from it, that'll be our payments" Uncle Feng compromised, usually three to four taels was what is paid to overseers of building projects everywhere. But he choose to take two taels since it was Lin Yu'an's project and they didn't really want to be paid, Lin Yu'an agreed.
It didn't matter how much is given now, he could find a way to repay them back. "okay then aunty Zhang, Uncle Feng.... we'll take our leave now. It's getting late and the twins and Ayu need to sleep early to recuperate. I brought you these wine jars to have a taste, i brewed the wine myself." both him and Yu ger stood up after everything was finalized and gave them the wine which was a shock to them when they heard that he brewed it himself. He cupped his hands saying politely. Aunty Zhang and uncle Feng looked at the both of them in delight, there were happy to see them closer to each other. They bid them farewell and left with the sleeping kids in hand. They set the twins on the kang bed and Lin Yu'an placed gentle kisses on their foreheads.
