Sylas's eyes narrowed at Lise's laughter, clearly not appreciating being taken lightly. Her lips pressed into a thin line, the tension in the room practically crackling in the air.

I could sense the impending clash before the first word of provocation even left her mouth.

"Fun, huh?" Sylas said, her voice like ice. "Let's see how much fun you'll have when your precious little tournament turns into a complete disaster. Unless, of course, you're too afraid to face actual competition."

Lise's smirk only widened. I could tell by the gleam in her eyes that she was absolutely thriving on this the tension, the challenge.

The room felt charged with energy as Zaya rolled her eyes in the background, sensing the same thing I did.

"Oh, Sylas," Lise said in a low, teasing tone, taking a step closer. "Afraid? Please. I haven't even broken a sweat yet, and that's after fighting half the Council."
