That afternoon, the world outside seemed to stop. After Zaya's warning about classes, Lise and I had exchanged a look a silent agreement that we deserved one more day of relaxation.
One more day to enjoy each other before returning to the grind of school, assignments, and everything else that wasn't this moment.
I stretched out lazily on the couch, watching as Lise paced the room, her fingers tapping against her phone. Her eyes caught mine, and she smiled, mischief flashing behind her gaze.
"Pizza for dinner?" she asked, her voice light, almost teasing.
"Pizza sounds perfect," I replied, adjusting the cushions behind me and getting comfortable. "Just make sure to order extra cheese."
Lise snorted, walking over to the couch and sitting beside me, her phone still in hand. She leaned against me, her body warm, and I instantly felt a wave of comfort wash over me. Her presence had that effect on me like the entire world disappeared when we were together.
