Capítulo 12: Pull The Trigger

"Dick move, les guys," I snarled as I felt two of my guys surrounding me. There was a shift in the air of the house, and it didn't have anything to do with the new thuds I could hear in the kitchen.

I guess the dead never stayed dead for long in the zombie apocalypse. And apparently, they couldn't find doors or climb stairs.

Or take a shower.

Vraiment, I don't think it would kill them a second time to take a shower.

"And what have we done now to earn your displeasure, mon ange?" purred Pride. However, the way he spoke with his smoky voice was nothing like Lust. His purr made me think of long nights and soft sheets, not how fast I could scrub a layer of skin off my body.

"You left me alone, naked and blind, in a strange house with no idea where I am going. Do you really have to ask?" I sneered, stretching my arm forward. I still wasn't wearing a towel, and I could feel the droplets from my hair running down my back as strands of my hair clung to my face and neck.

Teddy was covering my chest, not that there was much to cover, and the other hand was out to make sure that I didn't walk into anything. Seriously, I had no idea how to get around this place and there was nothing I hated more than to feel vulnerable.

Not listening to Pride or Greed's response, I let out a snarl and straightened my back. There was no need for me to feel uncomfortable, no matter my state of dress or undress. If others weren't comfortable, fuck them.

I refused to bow.

"Ten steps forward, and you will reach the door to the bathroom," stated Greed, his no-nonsense voice a soothing balm. "From there, turn right and walk twenty-three steps. You'll get into a child's room. He should have something for you to wear there."

Dropping my arm, I nodded my head as I imagined a queen would. Raising my chin, I followed Greed's instructions and easily found the room.

Pulling out a pair of pants and a tight, long-sleeve t-shirt, I shrugged at the fact that I wasn't wearing underwear or a bra. I was lucky if I could fit into an A cup; I really didn't need to bother with the pain a bra would provide.

Picking up Teddy, I gave him a kiss on his head. "It's okay, Teddy," I assured him, putting on my bravest of faces. "There is nothing scarier out there than what we have already gone through. We can do this. You and me until the end of the world, right?"

"Is now a good time to remind you that you are talking to an inanimate object, and we are already a few hours into the end of the world?" asked Lust.

With my chin held high, I refused to acknowledge the fourth voice. Lust might think that he was God's gift to women, but he certainly wouldn't find himself under my Christmas tree, that's for sure.

Wrinkling my nose, I retraced my steps back to the bathroom and, from there, found my way back downstairs.

However, before I ended up food for something I couldn't see, I paused with five steps left before the bottom of the stairs.

"Here," grunted Greed, a heavy amount of strain in his voice as he spoke to me. "Hold out your hand."

His words cut in and out as if he was using too much energy, and I started to get a bit worried about him. I had no idea how to give him more energy without more wishes, and it wasn't like the dumb zombies were wishing on a star any time soon.

Holding out my hand, I felt something land in the palm of it, the heavy weight of the object surprising me for a moment.

"It's a 9mm Winchester handgun," continued Greed, his voice going back to normal. "There are six idiots in front of you, and I don't know how many bullets."

"I can bring her the next gun," stated Pride, not willing to be outdone by Greed. "And some bullets for them."

That was my Pride, always having to one up Greed.

"I thought guns were useless against zombies," I pointed out, a slight smirk on my face as I tested the weight of the gun. Shifting it to my other hand, I squeezed Teddy tight as I gripped the handle with my right hand and pointed the muzzle forward.

"They aren't recommended," stated Envy as I felt him behind me on the stairs. "The sound would bring both types of zombies to your location. But Greed found a gun with a suppressor on it, so you shouldn't have to worry."

"Plus, as long as you aim for the head, they will stay dead," added Lust, clearly not taking the hint that he was my least favorite. Good voices should stay quiet when they weren't wanted.

"So, who is going to touch me?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. This was the first time I had ever held a gun, and I didn't think that I would be making any of my shots blind.

"Do you trust us?" asked Pride.

"Is that a general question or for specific individuals?" I replied, the smile on my face brightening.

"Do you trust me?" Pride rephrased, and I couldn't help but nod my head.

"Yes."

It was weird… the word 'yes'. It said everything and nothing all at the same time. I trusted Pride and Greed more than I trusted any other person or thing on Earth, including myself. My mind was like a kaleidoscope I had looked through once as a kid.

I could have moments of lucidity, but for the most part, everything was… broken. There was no way I could trust myself.

But Pride…

Greed?

I would walk through the fires of Hell and the Heavens themselves with just a word from either demon.

Even if it ended up killing me, it would be worth it to make them proud of me.

"That's my good girl," murmured Pride. "Now, lower the gun just a little bit. Now, shift it to your two o'clock, and when you are ready, pull the trigger."

I am not sure if it is right, but up here, we (I) refer to 'guys' as les guys... pronounced 'guh'.

Vraiment is roughly translated to 'Really'.
