[July 11th 21:30]

At a ranch called Sunrise Stables just a few miles outside of Middleburg a blue Prius could be seen driving past the stables grounds. Heading up the hill it stopped outside of a two-story ranch-style mansion. Across from the large house, there was a two-bedroom apartment above a smaller four-horse stable where the occupants kept their personal horses.

The houses were built using yellow stone and rustic brown roof tiles making the place shine as the setting sun hit it. The outside of the house was just a schick, decorated with flowers and freshly cut grass. A stone fountain was in the middle of the two houses creating a sort of roundabout for cars.

Stepping out of the car both May and Hakim were greeted by an elderly couple in their early fifties. Standing next to them was a tall woman with similar features to May. Unlike May, she has her here dyed in an auburn colour perfectly matching her looks. She stood at a height of 5'10 quite tall for her age taking after her parents.

The two elderly one man and a woman were both quite tall with Jack standing at 6'2 and Mary at 5'9. Jak has a full head of dirty blonde hair with a sheen of silver but it was all covered up by a cowboy hat. Despite the cowboy hat, he wore a smart business suit giving him a formal aura.

Mary on the other hand has black hair dyed with highlights giving it an ash brown look. Despite being 52 this year she looked as beautiful as in her early forties. Wearing a yellow sundress and a matching coat she exuded a motherly aura.

Before May and Hakim even had the chance to say hello after exiting the car Mary embraced them into a hug. Anna May's younger sister was only a step behind directly pulling her nephew into her embrace. It took them a good few moments to exchange greetings before they went into the house.

[Mc Pov]

Sipping a cup of tea around the dining room table I listened to Mum talk to her family. They had a lot to catch up on after not seeing each other for years especially when it concerned her parents. They spent the first ten minutes just fussing over her, making sure she was ok.

I only spoke a few words with them when they directed a question at me. I have not seen them since I was 6 in this life and a good 20 years in my past life. Not knowing what to do I tried my best to listen to their conversation but I quickly got bored. However, I didn't take out my phone and simply looked around the room checking out the decor.

The place has a homely feel to it with a lot of family photos all over the place. Surprisingly there were a few pictures of me from my last visit back when I was 6. But they were overshadowed by the amount of pictures of my uncle's family. He was married with a daughter my age despite the fact he was a year younger than my mother.

Both my uncle and aunt are twins but unlike him, she didn't marry her high school sweetheart. She seemed to be the only one of the siblings who didn't decide to have a kid out of high school. The saying third time the charm holds since Aunt Anna was the only mature one of the siblings.

"So How was the trip?" Grandma Marry asked snapping my attention back to their conversation. "It was fun we made a day out of visiting the war museum and wildlife reserve," She responded with a happy smile and proceeded to recount our journey here. Not wanting to sit through it I excused myself going out to get some fresh air.

Heading for the car I picked out my ball and calmly dribbled it between my legs. They had paved the driveway leading to the garage with a white stone making it perfect to dribble the ball. Something about the ball in my hands helps to calm me down whenever I get nervous.

Walking to the garage I was surprised to find a basket above one of the garage doors. It looks a little used but well-maintained by whoever was using it before. Not thinking too much I sent a shot towards the basket almost hitting the rim due to lack of focus.

Reacting quickly I caught the ball and took a second to breathe and calm my thoughts. 'I never thought I would ever come back here, it just doesn't feel real,' I thought to myself as I took a deep breath and centring myself.

bouncing the ball twice I let loose a jump shot hitting nothing but net this time. Picking up the ball I started dribbling it from left to right trying my best to loosen up my body. Slowly but surely my feeling for the ball activated as my six senses skill did its job. Bouncing the ball hard in front of me, I took two steps forward before jumping into the air towards the basket.

Taking hold of the ball I sailed towards the basket In one fell swoop stretching the ball out for a dunk. However, I was still too short and my bounce wasn't enough to reach the basket. Not even thinking about it I instinctively transition into a layup. Moving the ball to my other hand I scooped it up letting it glide along the basket and into the basket.

Quickly bracing for my fall I pushed myself of the garage wall and landed safely. "Maybe this is not the best place to practise Ariel manoeuvres," I mumbled to myself as I picked up my ball rethinking my abrupt decision to try for a dunk.

Deciding not to risk it I started just shooting the ball from the free-throw line. This is one of my better skills since at this point in my life I had shot around a million of them. At my school in ATL, coach made the freshmen take as many free throws as possible after completing that day's training menu.

According to him if you can't even score a free throw I don't want to see you shooting at all. So until you could hit 25/50 shots in one go, he wouldn't even look twice at you. I spent my first year with him just working on my fundamentals when it comes to shooting dribbling and passing.

The only time we got to play a game was during defensive drills and some smaller attacking drills. If you wanted to play a real match you played AAU or switched schools but hardly anyone did. This was due to how effective the training was for everyone who went through the program.

Every year the varsity team made it to the last 32 of the nationals and the coach himself won the banner twice. Once with the school and another at a different one before taking his current Job. He is the type of old-school coach who focuses on building up a player's fundamentals using military-style training.

"What are you doing at my court?" A young female voice spoke up from behind me just after I shot my 15th shot only missing 2. Turning around I was met by a youthful face in a light blue tracksuit and dark brown tide in a ponytail. Ignoring her white headband I looked into her Yellow brownish eyes trying my best to remember her.

"You're Jessicca right?" I asked her instantly recognising her since there is a shrine of photos in the main house for her. Judging from her fit she came back from playing basketball, reminding me of the fact she also plays. It had come up in my past life but I never really cared about it then and simply forgot about it.

"Yes, and you are?" she asked me in a commanding tone taking a step closer to me trying he best to look intimidating. But given the fact she was barely 5'4, it was rather comical to say the least.

"Guess I'm your cousin," I told her with a light smile picking up my ball that had rolled back. Since it was already late and looks like she was going to be trouble I decided to go and check out my room. The plan was to clear my head and I did just that so I might as well go to bed.

"Oh, it's you," she softly replied seemingly realising who I was but I didn't mind her simply walking past her. "Hey where are you going," She asked me upon seeing me leave but I didn't bother turning back feeling the fatigue from the journey hit me.

"I'm going to sleep see you later maybe," I told her directly heading from the guest house above the stables. Since I didn't want to stay in one house with my mother's family we decided to stay in the guest house for now. This was for two simple reasons, one they only have 5 bedrooms in the main house.

Each of their children has their own room and the last one is being used by their granddaughter. Since I had no plans on sharing a room with my cousin whom I hadn't seen for 8 years. Plus judging by my memories I had little contact with the rest of the family. The only time I saw them was after mum had died but by then I didn't want anything to do with them.
