"Shit," I breathed, the word echoing hollowly in the silence left by the skeletons' demise.

A voice crackled through the apartment from outside, amplified by a loudspeaker, "Lower your weapons and defences, and come out slowly!" It was Agent Davis, his voice taut with tension.

The sudden disappearance of the skeletal puppets plunged the room into a confused silence. No response came from within. This lack of movement seemed to be the trigger the agent was waiting for. Bullets, a hail of lead and steel, tore through the windows and door, shattering glass and splintering wood.

The unexpected attack caught both Mrs Williamsburgs off guard. The older woman vanished instantly, her cloaking ability activated in a heartbeat. But the younger one wasn't as quick.
