Capítulo 15: Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Rumbling Island Daofei (2):

Tai Lung approached the Rumbling Island Daofei's base with measured steps. His frame hides behind the shadows casted by the trees as he jumps from one shade to another.

His breathing was controlled and steady, easing his violently beating heart.

He looked at the fortress-like base of the Daofei and saw two watchmen guarding the heavy wooden gate.

"Hoooo!" A plume of hot steam escaped his mouth. Phoenix Breathing unfolded inside him embracing him with warm yet fiery energy.

His eyes locked at the daofei guarding the left side of the wooden gate. Then he took a step.

Divine Hundred Step

But it was no ordinary step. His feet blurred as he appeared before the man.

"Huh?" Before he could even react, a Blazing Meteor Fist powered by Phoenix Breathing slammed on his chest.

"Guah!" A blood gurgled on his mouth, his heart pierced and his eyes widened in shock.

No more than a second and he was dead. Tai Lung felt his food crept up from his stomach to his mouth, threatening to vomit but he controlled himself and continued.

"What the!?" The other guard was late to react, his mind took seconds to process what just unfolded before him. And so Tai Lung took advantage of that and punched him right in the face, creating a horrendous sound of a sickening crunch.

Buaaah!

Tai Lung vomited. This was the first time he was killed and it was unpleasant. His mind wanted him stop the unpleasant feeling but his body refused to.

It may not be noticeable but just with those three moves, his stagnating martial arts started to progress once again. And Tai Lung felt that, so he refused to stop.

Tai Lung wiped his mouth, his stomach still twisting in knots from the violent act. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as Phoenix Breathing flared within him, burning away the nausea.

There was no time to linger—he had to press on. Each step he took closer to the fortress was one step further into the abyss he couldn't turn back from.

The gate creaked open as he dragged the bodies aside.

His hands trembled as the weight of what he had done washed on him, but he shoved the feeling away.

If he was going to survive this, he needed to focus. His life—and the power he craved—depended on it.

Inside the fortress, he could hear voices echoing in the distance.

The Daofei were celebrating, unaware that two of their own had already been cut down. Tai Lung steeled himself and darted from shadow to shadow, moving deeper into the stronghold.

As he neared the center of the compound, his heart pounded in his chest. There were more of them—dozens, maybe—and if he wasn't careful, he would be killed. He needed to act quickly, to divide them.

But his thoughts were cut short as two Daofei came around the corner, catching him off guard.

"There!" one of them shouted, pointing toward him.

Tai Lung didn't hesitate. With a burst of Divine Hundred Step, he lunged forward, closing the distance in a blink.

His fist slammed into the first man's chest, the power of the Blazing Meteor Fist sending him flying backward, crashing into the wall with a sickening thud.

The second man reacted quickly, launching a blast of fire straight at Tai Lung. He barely managed to dodge, the heat grazing his skin as he spun to the side. The Daofei was a firebender and his eyes were burning with rage.

This intruder just killed his friend, and it's probably not the first. So he was furious.

Before Tai Lung could counter, a second wave of fire came at him, faster this time. He raised his arms, activating Shaolin's Indestructible Body bracing himself as the flames crashed into him, searing his skin.

It would've completely burned him if it were for the defense martial arts.

Pain shot through his body, but Phoenix Breathing flared within him, working in tandem with his defense martial arts, healing the burns almost as fast as they appeared.

He gritted his teeth and charged through the fire, the heat searing his flesh as he closed in on the firebender.

His fist glowed with energy as he unleashed another Blazing Meteor Fist, but the bender sidestepped, countering with a spinning kick that caught Tai Lung in the ribs.

Crack!

Pain exploded in his side as he staggered back, clutching his ribs. But he couldn't stop.

With a roar, he lunged again, this time faking left before delivering a powerful kick to the man's knee, shattering it with a sharp snap.

The firebender screamed in agony as he crumpled to the ground.

But Tai Lung barely had time to catch his breath before more Daofei arrived, drawn by the commotion.

Three more rushed him, weapons drawn and eyes full of malice. One wielded a spear, while the others were armed with clubs.

Tai Lung's body screamed in protest, but he pushed through the pain.

He ducked under the first swing, delivering a swift punch to the spearman's gut, but the man twisted away, stabbing at Tai Lung's shoulder.

The spearhead grazed him, leaving a deep gash. Blood flowed freely down his arm.

He hissed in pain, but Phoenix Breathing surged within him again, slowing the bleeding.

The energy within him was beginning to wane, though—each healing took more out of him than the last.

The man with the club came at him next, swinging wildly.

Tai Lung blocked the first hit with his arm, the impact jarring his bones, but the second blow slammed into his already-injured ribs, and he gasped in pain. The world spun for a moment, his vision blurring as he stumbled back.

The Daofei pressed their advantage, sensing weakness. The spearman jabbed again, and this time Tai Lung wasn't fast enough. The spear pierced his side, sending white-hot pain coursing through him.

He cried out, his knees buckling. His body screamed at him to stop, to give in, but he forced himself to stand. Blood dripped from his wounds, but his eyes burned with determination.

With a deep breath, Phoenix Breathing flared to life once more, filling him with warmth. His injuries slowly began to close, but the pain remained. He couldn't rely on this forever—his reserves were dwindling, and the Daofei weren't letting up.

Tai Lung gritted his teeth and focused. The spearman lunged at him again, but this time he was ready. He sidestepped the thrust, grabbing the spear and twisting it out of the man's hands. With a swift motion, he snapped the spear in two and drove the broken shaft into the spearman's chest.

More Daofei poured into the courtyard, surrounding him. His vision swam, and the ground beneath him seemed to tilt. He was outnumbered, injured, and exhausted.

And he wasn't sure how much longer he could last.
