Capítulo 9: Secret Tunnel

-----General Lee POV-----
Watching lava spew out of the hole in the mountain it seemed unreal that a fire bender could do such a thing. I had heard of Iroh and his skill in breathing Fire, Jeong Jeong's flaming wall, and the entire royal family's mastery over lightning bending. Yet this was by far the most impressive, the drills and tanks we used to excavate through the mountain would take weeks maybe even months.
I held an order sent by an advisor of the Fire Lord. "With the potential skill and use of such an amazing asset we wish you to train Orin for a higher position. Promotion will be a tool to use as motivation, mold the boy into a perfect weapon for the fire nation."
Train the kid into a weapon huh? I could imagine the Fire Lord wanting to use this kid, but was such actions necessary? News of Zuko's banishment had been spreading around though.
"Once the lava bender goes to eat bring him here, as a formal invitation to lunch." he should be impressed by the meal prepared, after that I'll assign him a few tasks that will allow me to promote him along.

"Private Orin the Brigadier General Lee invites you to his tent for lunch. I wish you luck."
I wipe the ash of my clothes and cleaned myself up. The fact I was called to the generals for lunch meant something was up. I sighed as I felt a scheme was brewing in the background.
"You wanted to see me sir?"
"Yes join me for lunch Private Orin, you see some of the other generals have been talking over messenger hawks and rumors of your abilities have been spreading. We would like to appoint you to a hire position, but you need a few achievements under your belt. This means not only solidifying your power, but also becoming an accomplished warrior. So I ask you would you like to be promoted Private Orin?"
I wanted to look impressed after all I was young and wanted to appear a little ambitious. For now my plans of the future weren't clear and I wanted to find a good path to be able to teach Aang energy bending. The problem was I was pretty sure he hadn't woken up yet. I would pretend to be ambitious for more power.
"Thank you for your offer sir, what would you suggest I do sir!"
"I am glad your eager, I will give you a series of task to preform to raise your standing. The first will simply finishing that secret tunnel. I will write up a list of other possible opportunities while your here. For now enjoy the roast Moose Duck and fried veggies.'
I tried the food and it was absolutely delicious, apparently my joy was evident. The General had begun to speak.
"Once promoted you will be able to enjoy meals like this one more often."
I had nodded, this food was much better than the stuff I tried in my past life. I hadn't even need to fake any emotions. If anything I would at least get myself promoted to enjoy food like this more often instead of the dried military rations I was normally given.
