Capítulo 50: An Unexceptable Alliance

"Silence!"

A loud voice rang though out the hall, alerting all the candidates in the assembly hall, making a shiver go down their spine. All of the candidates slowly turned towards the stadium, looking at the five people who seemed to have teleported here just now, sitting on the chairs.

The five headmasters of Paragon, gathered together for the first day of the academy.

Everyone was shocked to see the five of them gathered together. The only times they gather together are when they are interviewing a new teacher or, when they are going to make an announcement.

"Do I have everyone's attention? Good, then I will start the announcement before we move on to the welcome ceremony," said Headmaster Ben. "As you all might have seen there were some unwelcomed guests present in the exam. Yes, we know about you hunters who have disguised yourselves as candidates to enter the school, fear not for we have no intention to harm you as we were the ones who let you in on purpose...

We are here to announce that we have allied ourselves with League of Hunters."

His words shocked not only the assembly hall but also the whole world as the entrance ceremonies are broadcasted throughout the world.

Echoes filled the entire hall as the candidates thought of it as an unexceptable alliance.

"We know that some of you are angry at us for making such a decision and I understand you for that, I truly do... As the years have passed the hunters have relentlessly hunted us metahumans, aura users, magicians, sorcerers and summoners... Killed our friends, families and those who are dear to us... The hunters have taken away many things from me, do I resent them? Ofcourse! You have every right to resent them!

But my friends... Would you still try to kill them if I told you that the Armageddon is coming for us? Would you still try to kill them if your friends are dying? Or, would you work together to save one more life?" Headmaster Ben asked, shocking the audience once again, leaving them to think by themselves. "I will let you think of an answer for my question, but know this if you hate something then don't let that hate out, use it to drive yourself further, use that hate to get stronger, if not for yourself then maybe for someone else. In my eyes all of you have the potential to be a better person, even hunters. Although I hate hunters as much as every other metas, I don't want to kill them because I know that I can do better than that, all of you can..."

At that moment his words inspired the whole world, making them realise what they were doing, by killing each other they were only becoming what they hated. Why didn't they realise it earlier? Was it because no one told them about it or, was it because they were afraid to say it? Then why did Ben say it? Was it because he wasn't afraid or, did he have nothing to lose anymore?

'Last one probably, considering his old age,' I thought.

"You can't judge someone by their age," Ryuk said.

'I can and I will, he is my creation after all,' I said proudly.

"Not exactly but... I don't wanna argue with you," Ryuk sighed.

Ding Ding Ding Ding

The sudden noise from my pocket attracted the attention of those who were standing around me. I simply smiled at them nervously and apologized for the disturbance. I couldn't really care less about my image but I don't wanna have it ruined on the first day.

'He didn't tell me it was so loud how the hell do I lower the volume, he didn't even give me an instruction manual,' I shouted inside my head.

"Can't you just figure it out?" Ryuk asked.

'That's easy for you to say, the kids around me would think that I am playing with a toy while the headmaster is giving a speech,' I answered. 'But if I were to put a volume button on a pen like object then...'

I taped the pen's cap on the lower end through my coat and it didn't do anything...

'I think that was the volume button?' I thought. Since nothing happened to the pen, I thought I got the right button.

After the speech was over, there was a good amount of silence in the hall for a long while. The welcome ceremony was shorter this time because of the tension in the hall. Even though the headmaster's words stopped them from fighting each other, it didn't clear their hearts of the pent up hate they had for one another. Each of them retreated to their assigned rooms quietly, without bothering one another.

There were two students assigned in one room each. Students were allowed to exchange rooms, however Tom straight up stole key from the kid that was meant to be my roommate while sliding his own key in the kid's pocket.

"Seriously? Couldn't you just have asked him?" I asked, watching the kid wandering around confusedly.

"My father didn't teach me any manners, if you wanna blame someone then blame him," Tom answered.

"I would rather not bad mouth someone else without knowing them personally," I said, earning a smile from him. 'I don't wanna get killed in my sleep after bad mouthing your father, I know how much you care for him.'
