Capítulo 23: 23. Bonus Chapter (before he goes) part 3

"so how're we going to go about the baseball game,I mean, do we even have a team?"
I asked my mother who apparently is going to be the captain
"well,you and I are the first members of the team"
she said staring up at the ceiling
"I see....so we need 7 other people to come join us"
I got up from where I was sitting, trying to think and strategize our gameplan when I heard a meow sound coming from below me
"oh it's Mits-kun"
I said as I picked her up from the floor and began to caress her on the back
"she may not be able to play,but she could help us fill in the role of a...what did you call it again?"
my mom asked, snapping her finger in hopes of remembering
"mascot?"
"oh yeah ,right"
she said as she finally remember
"okay but I would have to ask her first"
I then turned my gaze towards mits and asked
"mits would you do us the favour of being our little mascot "
"meow?"
Mits-kun asked
"yeah,can you?"
I asked again
"meow"
"but why?"
I asked, a bit in confusion,and it went forward like that with me asking her questions and she just replying with a meow
"ugh....I don't get what you saying,but I would take everything you said as a yes"
as soon as I said that ,mits bit me hard on the hand I was using to hold her as she ran away from me and away from the room
"ouch"
I held my hand in pain,I turned towards the door and said
"you can run,but you can't hide,one way or the other you will be our mascot"
I yelled outloud in hopes that she might hear me
|....good thing cats have good hearing....|
"*chuckle 🤭*"
"mom why are you laughing?"
I asked my mom who seemed to have gotten amused by something
"oh sorry, it's just that you and mits are a funny pair"
she said
"you think?"
|....well maybe more of weird than funny.....|
"so mom, I have an idea of someone who can join our team"
I said as an idea just hit me
"is Sir Withward?"
my mom asked with a disappointed look on her face
"sigh 😔, regrettably we can't put him on our team,your aunt got to him first"
"Aunt and Uncle in the same team?"
I whispered to myself
"that's gonna be quite troublesome"
|....what about, aunt Layla and aunt Lia?.....|
I said as I took some time to think about it
|....no ,I don't really see them giving it their all, except if uncle Withward's on their team....|
"I guess we just have to ask other members of the staffs then"
I told my mom as I was preparing to leave
"where are you going?"
my mom asked
"to go ask more people to join our team,then after that we can form a game plan against aunt and Subaru"
I said clenching my fist in front of her to show her my determination
"okay,so when are you going to be back?"
she asked
"if I can't get up to 5 new members before 5 then I'll come back"
"okay"
my mom replied
and like that I left my mom's room in search of other members to add to our team
Subaru's POV:
I was walking through the main hallway,with my hands in my pocket,dressed in a full black suit wearing a white shirt underneath,
as I was walking towards the hallway about to make a turn, I spotted a mirror and turned to look at it
|...I wonder if I have bad taste in fashion...|
as I was still looking at my appearance on the mirror ,I noticed Ascimos reflection, making a turn and as soon as I spotted it I went into the side of a big vase pot with an exotic flower to hide
"I wonder what he's doing here?"
I asked myself while spying on him.
Right now he was with a man servant and he seemed to be conversing with him
"wait don't tell me we are here for the same reason?"
|...gosh,but won't that be hard on him, considering he hardly close to any other people outside of mom,aunt, Uncle Withward, Aunt Layla,Aunt Lia and i ....|
I thought as I continued watching him.
Ascimos then gave a nod to the man ,whose name goes by Fred,
|....I have been here for about 5 years now,right from the time Ascimos was born,so I know all the names of the servants,if there was any I didn't know,I learnt them...|
after the exchange of nods they both went their separate ways,after I waited a little to make sure the coast was clear I chased down the manservant and as soon as I got to him I pulled him by the hand and said
"good morning sir Fred?"
I bowed my head down a bit
Fred was a man who was in his early 20's with a height of about 5 feet tall,he was white in complexion and he had a brown hair,right now he was wearing the manservant dresscode which was the same thing uncle Withward wears,a black suit
"oh good morning Master Subaru"
He bowed down his head below mine
"how may I be of service to you?"
he asked
"may I inquire of you what Ascimos and you were conversing about a moment back"
I asked as I raised up my head and when I did he too did the same
"I am sorry Master Subaru but Master Ascimos, instructed me to make sure I didn't tell a soul,not even you"
he said as he looked straight into my eyes and immediately bowed his head and said
"I am sincerely sorry"
"no, it's okay,if Ascimos doesn't want me to know,then I would leave it at that, you are dismissed"
I said waving my hand signaling him to go
"I'll take my leave"
he said as he turned to leave
|...how can I make him talk....|
immediately an idea struck me
|.... Sorry Ascimos but this is war....|
"congratulations"
I said looking at Fred who was still walking away
"what did you young master?"
he asked
"I said 'congratulations' "
I repeated
"congratulations? but for what?"
Fred with a confused expression on his face asked
"well you passed the test"
I replied
"test?"
"yes test, Ascimos is going around conversing with the people of the mansion about a specific topic...."
|..... I hopes this works ....|
"and then after conversing with them,he would instruct them distinctively not to tell anybody, and after he leaves I would then meet up with the person to ask about the topic,which of course Ascimos would have told me beforehand,so I would be able to know if the person was lying to me, telling the truth,or something or staying true to their master orders"
I said as I swallowed a big gulp of saliva trying to hide my nervousness
"I see....so Master Subaru, sorry to ask,you should be able to tell me of what Master Ascimos was talking about?"
he asked as he looked at me , scanning me from head to toe with no expression whatsoever
|... he's smarter than I thought,but I anticipated this...,guess it's all or nothing...|
"yes....I should be able to tell you"
I said still thinking on whether I should give him a concrete answer or fess up,that is was lying
"and that is...."
he pushed even further
"it's base....base... baseball ⚾"
I said as I cleared my throat a bit
"yeah baseball"
Sir Fred looked at me for a while and then after a few seconds he said
"well I guess it's true then,so that's what all 'that' was about"
he said with a smile on his face
"I am so happy I passed"
"yeah"
I replied
Fred immediately bowed down and said
"sorry master Subaru for doubting your honesty, please forgive your servant!!! "
he said with a shout
"shh,shh,quiet down I have heard no probs"
i said trying to calm him down

"so can you tell me in detail what Ascimos told you?"
I asked
"don't be worried, it's just to make sure that you were paying close attention when your master"
I continued
he then left his bowing postire
"oh,I understand, well Master Ascimos had enqired of me if by any chance i could join in partaking of the baseball game,but I had replied that I won't be able to due to the fact that I would be busy with other matters"
he said
"and what would that be?"
I asked
"your mom has asked me to take up the position of if the audience on that day"
|....I see ,so mom did announce to everyone,but that doesn't mean everyone would be available to play the game and from my little knowledge of baseball,there are usually 4 major roles, which are the players,the fans,the officiators,and the commentator,and there are 9 people on both teams which mean excluding Mom, Ascimos,Aunt and I there are 14 other people who mom informed about the baseball game but didn't give them a role.....I wonder if Ascimos could figure that much....|
"okay,thank you for your time Fred, by any chance was there any other with you when my mom informed you about the game?"
I asked in hopes of milking out more information from him,since to keep things fair ,mom didn't tell me a thing
"well yeah, about Five others and she also gave us 3 different colors of papers,one was blue which I have the other was red and the last was white"
Sir Fred said with a smile
"okay, thanks,you can take your leave now,it was nice talking to you"
I said
"no the pleasure is all mine"
he said that as he turned and finally took his leave
"I see,so there are are 4 major roles and mom must have made up cards for each of them,I guess I should look for those with cards other than blue then"
I said as I then took the turn opposite the one Fred and Ascimos took
"😔 sigh,this is going to be a pain"
I said as I began walking while looking for other servants
Ascimos POV:
"sigh,out of everyone I have asked,they didn't tell me anything different"
I said while walking to the servants quarters looking for Uncle withward
|... let's see....so the time should be around 12:00am meaning I have just about 3 hrs to meetup with mom and come up with a plan...|
"wait it's 1:00 meaning Uncle withward is in the kitchen"
I said as I began running towards the kitchen
|...I know he's already on Subaru team ,but there's something I need to check and also ask.....|
"I hope this works"
I said as I began running at full throttle to The kitchen
83 hrs before Subaru leave for the imperial academy...

Mercy_Izekor it's been long since I last updated the book, sorry guys,i also forgot some little details which I had put before but had lost,but I hope the renewed details would be better
