Capítulo 11: 11. A life without him? (part two)
Ascimos POV:
I was with Uncle Withward ,both of us were sitting near a fish pond with our fishing rod in our hands. We had prepared the baits now all we are waiting for is for the line to give us a hint that we may have caught something. It took me a while before I could get to the fishing pond, mostly because I started running immediately after Uncle Withward told me he was gonna tell me more about magic being in this world,it took a while before I could calm down and by that time I had already run quite a distance but it didn't take up to a minute later for Uncle Withward to catch up to me now. We're both sitting quietly neither of us speaking, I think he may be angry at me ,so I decided to break the silence:
"uh, uncle Withward?"
I said his name under the sound of my breath,deep down in me I hoped he didn't hear
"yes?"
unfortunately he did,I decided to go through with what I have to say
"um,I am sorry for what happened earlier please forgive me?"
I said closing my eyes expecting the worst
"oh,that,forget about it ,if I was angry about something that menial I won't have the right to call myself you and Subaru's attendant,now will I?"
I open my eyes to look at him and I saw him not frowning or giving a strict face but rather he was giving me a smile,it seems he wasn't angry afterwards, so I decided to push forward
"so since you're not angry can you tell me about,um... the magic we were discussing about?"
I said looking at the pond inorder to avoid eye contact
"okay"
as soon as I heard those words I turned to look at his eyes and said
"really?"
he replied by ruffling my hair and said
"yes,but before that I need to tell you about the history of this land"
after saying that Uncle Withward brought out his stop watch to check the time,
"okay,we still have a little bit of time left before we call it a day,so now let's begin"
as soon as he said that I erased all side thought inorder to listen to him clearly because this was my chance to learn one or two things about this new world
"well you see"
uncle Withward began
"about 300 years ago, our land,Bellecepochra was much different from the one you grew up in, no,but rather it was a land plagued with war and diseases, the 4 great kingdoms of this land had a disagreement which brought conflict among them..."
he kept on talking until he turned to see me, if i was paying any attention but to his surprise I was sound asleep
"ouch!"
i said clenching my head with my hands
"why did you hit me"
I said looking at uncle Withward with tears in my eyes
"don't sleep midway of me talking to you or don't you want to learn about magic"
Withward said giving me a creepy smile while showing the hand he used to knocked him.
I quicky drew back the snot dripping from my nose and said
"yes, yes"
shaking my head forcefully to prove I was ready
"good, now were was I?"
he asked
"I don't know the only part I remembered was you saying 300 years ago and I dozed off. Please don't hit me!!!"
I said reflexively holding my head for fear of getting punched again
but Uncle Withward replied by saying
"oh I see,well then let's continue,shall we?"
he fixed his tie and continued his story
"as I was saying,a war broke out as a result of a disagreement among the 4 kingdoms"
Uncle Withward turned to check if I was listening and this time around I was
"nobody really knew what type of disagreement would cause 4 kingdoms to go on a all out war, but everyone could testify that the war was such that the likes of history has never seen before,it was every man for himself,and at that time not everyone practiced magic ,one could even say that it's because of that war that everyone knows magic today. Names were made in that war and some people became legends,it was very terrible. Neither of the kingdoms showed signs of yielding, and as a result the number of resources in each land depleted leaving each and everyone to their barest minimum,still yet no one refused to surrender, the war waged on for about 5 more years,everyone forgot why they were fighting, you couldn't differentiate a friend from a foe and soon enough the warriors started killing each other"
he stopped a bit , thinking about the situation of that war and how ridiculous it was,knowing fully well that the soldiers didn't have a say in the matter to fight or not to, he looked at me who was all ears so he continued
"no one knew were the king's were ,most people speculated that they were killed off from the beginning of the war while others say they must have ran to a far away land,and what do you get when there's a people without a king.Well those people produced cacius it was about survival and it went on like that ,until one day one man came with his magic and that was light ,no one knows his origin or where he comes from ,but he alone single handedly stopped that war ,as it goes this were his words:
" why fight,when you don't have something to protect or something worth fighting for?, if this continues much longer it would lead to our children destruction" and like that everyone dropped their weapons and arms,some say he was so strong that no one could oppose him thanks to his strength. This man was later known to become the first emperor of the land, he used his magic to fix most of the damages that the war caused, even him couldn't fully repair everything,time passed and the people began to behave the way they once used to,that is before the events of the war but one thing that changed was that everyone knew magic. The people could now defend for themselves,but yet they did something surprising, they went to that young man that helped them and asked him to be their leader at first he declined but seeing how persistent they were he finally gave in and him together with the people of that time were able to fully repair the land to it's former glory, the system of choosing their leaders changed, all the 4 kingdoms were under the same authority and they became one ,new kings were appointed and because of the war the people believed that a king should be appointed not only on his wits but also based on his strength and like that the 3 tiers of authority were formed which were;
The Emperor, The 3 kings and the 12 elites, and every 8 years new candidates are chosen, most of the time it's usually the same people who takes the position, you should also know that for one to become an emperor he or she must first be an elite then king before he must fight the present emperor and if he wins he takes the throne but for the past 295 years no one has been able to take the throne from that young man family that stopped the war and that's why his lineage is known as the strongest lineage of all time..."
Uncle Withward looked at me and said
"it may interest you to know that you are affiliated with one of the elites can you guess?"
he said looking at me
"me?"
I bent my head to the side looking at him
"yes you"
he replied
I used my finger to touch my chin being deep in thoughts
"let me see, please give me a hint" I turned to looked at him
"okay"
he replied
"the person's name starts with R, can you figure it out?"
he said smiling while looking at the fishing pond
"R,R,R,R,R,R? which person name starts with 'R' ?"
"I've got it"
I said hitting the palm of my hand with the side of my fist
"it's aunt Rachel, isn't it?"
I said looking all mighty and proud 😊 that I figured it out
"yes,you are correct"
Uncle Withward said clapping his hands ever so lightly
"but you still haven't told me anything about magic though"
I said pouting my face
"that will have to wait for another time"
He said checking his pocket watch ⌚ and seeing the time
"it about time we go"
he said getting up and packing his fishing rod and the baits
"not yet"
I said folding my hand
"hmmm,what is it"
he said looking at me with a confused face
"I won't go until you tell me everything"
|...this is my only chance to know more about this world I won't just let it go like that ,good thing I was in the drama club...|
"okay I'll tell you but on one condition"
he said using his hand to show the letter one☝️
"what is it?"
I said
"you must first of all tell me the meaning of a noble and the types of nobles we have after that I'll tell you"
he replied giving me a smile afterwards
"okay,then, ugh,oh!"
I said trying to hold on to the fishing rod in my hand
"oh,it seems you may have gotten a bite,let me help you with that"
he said joining me to pull the rod
then I said
"Alright,in 3,2,1,pull!!!"
and we pulled with all our might and finally a big fish popped out of the point holding on to the string with it's mouth
"Woah, that's a big one"
Uncle Withward said looking at the fish that was dangling on the wood that was our platform for sitting and standing
(Author: just imagine the same wood that Sasuke sat on when he was around 9 years old looking at a pond,when Naruto was passing by, and they frowned when looking at each other but when they weren't looking at each other they smiled.)
"now we can go home"
I said holding the big fish in my hand and giving to Uncle Withward who kept it in a bucket
"one more thing Ascimos"
uncle Withward said looking at me and carrying all the equipment we brought with him
"yeah ?"
I said smiling at him
"here's your share of the luggage"
he said passing me half of the equipment he carried
"😂 hahaha,almost thought you forgot"
I laughed and took it from his hands
he ruffled my hair and smiled at me with his glistening white teeth
he said,
"promise me you will never lose your smile"
and with the sun setting🌅 I replied
"I promise"
