Grayson finds himself staring at the passing trees. The change in seasons was an inevitability; the leaves grow, change color, and fall. It was a part of life. Nothing could stay the same forever.
Jude pulls Grayson out of thought. "Are you ready? You’ve been quiet the whole drive up."
Grayson looks up, and sure enough, Jude is shifting the car in park in the field he had driven to just the day before, with the Fall Festival fully in swing.
Grayson smiles, dismissing the worry in Jude’s eyes. "Yeah. I can't believe it's ready. I hope you know I have very high expectations."
Jude gives him a smug look. "Oh, of course. I think you'll be impressed. Especially since you don't have any prior experiences to compare it to."
"Fair enough. What first, Fall Festival expert?"
Jude thinks for a moment, and they exit the car. "Well, it's a bit cold. I think we should hit the cider booth first."
"A lot of firsts for me today," Grayson muses.
