Siona was too absorbed in herself and what the Ra'shi had said to notice him. In the end, Klein could only do one thing to catch her attention.

He rubbed her palm with his fastidious fingers, doing it slowly—because if he rubbed hard or clenched her hand, she might think he was lashing out.

Finally, Siona spared him a glance. Their eyes met, and a silent communication flowed between them.

Hopefully, it did, he thought.

The Ra'shi's words had left Siona on the back foot, her control over her essence momentarily suspended. Klein took them under his own control. Perhaps calling it "control" was an overstatement, for with her higher power, Siona could reclaim it at any moment. He hoped she wouldn't—not like last time.

Before Siona regained her composure, Klein intertwined their essences in the way Elanor had shown him earlier that day.

Siona's expression changed, her eyes widening as she stared at him, fighting for control.
