Suddenly, his vision blurred, and he stumbled, catching himself against the wall.

He couldn't afford to waste any more time here.

He had to get to a safe place, somewhere he could gather his thoughts and figure out what was happening.

The medical room.

If anyone could diagnose this strange condition, it would be the medics.

But something told him he didn't have the luxury of waiting for an examination. 

Maybe even the medics are against him now.

With a sharp intake of breath, the general summoned the last dregs of his teleportation energy and, with a flash, disappeared from the hallway.

When he reappeared, he collapsed onto the cold, sterile floor of the medical room, gasping for breath.

The sudden loss of energy made the room spin, and for a moment, he thought he might lose consciousness right there.

'No,' he willed himself. 'I can't. Not yet.'
