80% Anti-System: the Fallen Angel / Chapter 32: Mausoleum of the Exiled

Capítulo 32: Mausoleum of the Exiled

As the Unique Skill was accidentally activated, a powerful wave that comes out of nowhere suddenly hits Samael's mind and causes his eyes to roll back. Before he can even realize what was going on, he already lost consciousness.

Everything was black for a moment, but he soon regain back his senses.

'Where am I?!' Samael exclaimed inside his head.

Glancing around the place he was met with nothing but thick darkness that can't be seen through even with his Walker of the Night skill that has given him night vision ability. But even though it was dark, the situation feels familiar.

Soon enough, he realized that he was falling once again just like before.

Realizing that he was in a precarious situation, he glanced down and found himself plummeting downwards back to the hellish plane where he fought the Demon Imps. Without any sign of abatement, his body crashed onto the hard ground, and clouds of dust swirled in the air.

Due to the fall, he feels the air get knocked out of it forcing him to groan in pain.

In a moment, he slowly recovers from the fall and pushes himself to stand. While still holding his chest which is throbbing painfully right now, he glanced at his surroundings and find that he was in a completely different place.

"This is not like before..." Samael mutters in confusion.

Not a lot of time has passed since he managed to escape the hellish plane and get back into the real world, he remembered clearly the searing sea of lava that filled the entire place. Darkness was not present in that place, so he was clearly in a different place.

But then, a small holographic box appeared at the right-bottom of his vision.

[Second Floor - Mausoleum of the Exiled]

Samael read the characters and can't help but frown, he knows that he should be in the Ruin of the Underworld. The Anti-System earlier told him that he has managed to clear the first floor which is the Garden of the Demon Imps, but now he's on the next floor.

'Okay, this is really bad...' he thought to himself.

Without a doubt he's definitely stronger than he has ever been, he can easily beat his previous self. But even with his current power, he could only barely escape the grasp of the Demon Imps.

Confident in his strength is good, but he needs to be conscious of his limit.

Since he has only gained the Anti-System for not even a day, he knows that this is the start of the path of power. Thus, there are still many entities out there that are way stronger than him, Cryus and Vivian to name a couple.

As they are mages in the Wizard realm, they are still way stronger than the current him.

Knowing that fact alone forces Samael to gulp harshly, his throat is dry due to the bone-chilling air blowing against his body with inexplicable dread and fear. The air around him was cold enough to make him shiver, yet something more sinister lurked beneath the darkness that surrounded him.

It's without a doubt that the Demons on the second floor are still way stronger than him.

Looking around the place and taking in the air around him, his vision slowly adjusted to the thick darkness. Just like the name suggested, this place seems to be a mausoleum, and it seemed spacious with one elaborate tomb at the middle point of the room.

This central structure was adorned with intricate carvings and minute markings.

Not a single sound can be heard in the entire place, only his rigid breathing filled can be heard as he scans around warily. But then, a couple of notifications from the Anti-System appeared.

[Devourer of Good Unique Skill is activating!]

[Calculating gathered good karma...]

[Calculation complete! The anti-host hasn't collected a single good karma that can be turned into bad karma, it's advised to accumulate good karma before entering the Ruin of the Underworld. Gained 0% stat increase for this second-floor run]

Disregarding the notifications, Samael can't help but ask out of worry.

'Anti-System, do I have the immortality effect?'

[No, the anti-host doesn't have the immortality effect. But there's no need to worry, true death is only possible if the anti-host died too many times on a specific floor. If the anti-host doesn't surpass the dying limit, the anti-host would not die]

Samael feels his blood runs cold when he reads the first sentence, but then he sighs in relief.

'At the very least, I won't die even if I got killed by the Demons inhabiting this place' Samael thought with ease, it would be outright funny if he actually died here without even being able to fully grasp the Anti-System's power.

Just as he thought of that, his body stiffens when he heard a light eerie growl.

In reflex, Samael snaps his neck to look at the back and finds the Demons that are supposed to be the ones guarding this floor. But he was absolutely terrified, the air coming from these Demons is way different compared to the Demon Imps.

From the thick darkness in the corner of the place, Samael can see two pairs of red eyes.

Samael stares at the two pairs of glaring scarlet eyes, one is much shorter than him around his waist level, while the other is at least one or two meters taller than him. Each of their bodies was concealed by the darkness, only their blazing eyes are exposed to see.

With a bead of cold sweat running down the side of his face, he lowers his stance in ready.

Although he didn't mean to come to this place in the first place, he was not going to let these Demons kill him without a proper fight. 'Let's use this opportunity to gauge the difference between our strengths' he thought with conviction.

But his conviction was wiped away when the tall pair of red eyes charges at him.

Even though he can see a little bit of its body silhouette signing that this Demon was about to charge at him, Samael was surprised when he felt a destructive force hitting right on his chest.

Bam!

In an instant, blood forces its way out of his mouth as he got flung back hard.

Crash!

Samael forced out a grunt when his back slammed against the wall and bounced off of it, he then fell back to the ground with a light thud as his eyes turns red from the damage he received. 'W-What just happened...?' he asked inside his head.

Even though he tries so hard to find out what happened, he didn't remember any.

Forcing himself up from the ground strugglingly, he looks down at his chest and finds that it was in a mess. Even without looking properly, he can feel that most of his ribs broke from the force that hits him.

While gritting his teeth trying to endure the pain that stings his entire being, he looks up.

Gazing unwaveringly at the tall pair of red eyes that hasn't broken eye contact all this while, Samael grasps his chest tightly as it throbs in pain. 'It must have been that one who hit me, but I didn't even see how that Demon attacked me. It's devilishly powerful too, I can hardly stand up!

Despite wanting to test how he will fare against these Demons, the result was destructive.

Not only was he got flung by a single strike and reduced to a state incapable of fighting back anymore, but he also didn't see how the Demon attacked him. To top it off, the other Demon hasn't even moved a muscle.

It's clear that the increase in difficulty was devastating, Samael is completely at their mercy.

Samael coughs another mouthful of blood again as he realized that he can't do anything, and anger slowly filled his entire body as his purple eyes glowed brightly. "Well? Come on then, kill me already!" he taunted while spreading his arms to the side.

A deadly silence covered the entire place, the Demons kept still in their places.

But when Samael was about to engage to end this hopeless battle, his eyes widened as he was stricken with fear when he saw the other Demon smile eerily and exposes its deadly row of razor-sharp teeth.

Just as his body instinctively wanted to take a step back, Samael's entire vision turns dark.

An unknown amount of time later.

"WAAHHH!"

Samael screamed at the top of his lung and jolted his eyes awake, he then quickly stands up and glance around the entire place out of fear. It was then he realized that he has came back, he was not in the Mausoleum of the Exiled anymore.

As he regained his composure, he grabs his chest realizing that he was hyperventilating.

It seems the pain he suffered in the Ruin of the Underworld followed him back into reality. He was familiar with the sensation of dying as he had died multiple times because of the Demon Imps' claws, and this whirling feeling his body was now subject to was familiar to those times when he actually died.

Even his entire body is covered in sweat because of that, the pain is very real for him.

In addition, his hand reaches up to grasp his neck which feels like it has been cut open. Although Samael can recall taking a massive hit to the chest by the tall Demon, he couldn't remember any substantial damage done to his neck that would cause such a stinging pain.

But then he realized what this meant, 'Did I die from being sliced on the neck...?'

Since his vision suddenly blacked out without him even realizing it, he suspects that the short Demon that was smiling at him was the one that killed him by slicing his neck, there's no other explanation other than that.

Realizing this, Samael then nodded his head, 'I need to increase my speed...'

Knowing that he first need to at least be able to react to those Demons, he decided that he would invest in his speed, which means that he should focus on increasing his agility stats so he can be faster.

There are still a couple of unused attributable points, and he decides to use that.

Just as he was about to do that, rapid footsteps can be heard coming from the side before Asher popped out with a dead deer over his shoulder. A spark of concern can be seen on his face, "What happened?! I heard you scream from afar!"
