Given that they were situated far away in the Gilded Kingdom, they also had little opportunity to interact with the countries or forces from the mainland. This was not to mention bending their heads to submit to any forces. To them, they were bestowing the greatest mercy by not retaliating against but forgiving someone who had threatened their benefits.
