There were distinct pleas and each words felt heavy and choked out as they echoed.
"You can't die. If you dare to die now, I will burn that village you love so much and every single person living in it."
"No, you cannot leave me. I do not allow it, Yeon Jin. I refuse."
"Please, I'm sorry just... Don't leave me again. Stay..."
Yeon Jin opened his eyes in that instant and sat up on his bed, panting with light breaths. He covered his face with his palm, stylishly rubbing his slightly furrowed eyebrows, and sighed.
"That dream again." He muttered.
That dream... That same dream he had been having for over a week, and it seemed to have no end. Though he couldn't get what was going on, he could faintly remember the desperation in the faces of three different people, whose names he did not know, and whose faces he could not recognize.
Why he was having that dream, he had not the slightest clue. But he did know that they all had one thing in common, the way they kept pleading and begging, it was all for the same reason.
They begged with tears, bowed their heads, screamed and even resulted in threats while holding someone, a lifeless figure in their arms. He wanted to understand what was going on and why he was having such strange dreams but there was honestly no one to ask.
That was as far as it stayed. A dream!
"It's strange." He said but quickly shook his head.
He didn't have time to entertain burdening thoughts. Today was an important day. It was the day he was finally going to confess his feelings to his beloved. And it also happened to be their birthday.
They had been dating for a while, started as sex partners though, and now he was going to take the bold move to confess.
But on that fine day, there were two important things that needed his attention. One was meeting his beloved, of course, and the other was school. He needed to submit the assignments the professor had nonchalantly ladened on him and his classmates over the weekend.
It was important to not miss that day's class as well as the submission since they were both crucial for the finals that were coming up in a week.
"I need to get ready."
Dal Yeon Jin was a young man in his 20s. He had bright silver hair that many people mistook to be bleached. His eyes were also silver but they were more on the dull side. The dullness of his eyes made him look like he was blind but his vision was perfectly okay.
His eyes weren't always like that though. They used to be blue and as clear as the sky but after an accident, they became like that. It was strange how he could still perfectly see when his eyes looked like that.
And of course, thanks to that, he was a different individual from the rest of his peers.
He is a college student studying at a sports school. He mostly dealt with archery and was a pro at it but just a month ago, he went into boxing.
Why did he decide to learn boxing? It was simply because the line of business his beloved was into was dangerous and so, he needed to learn a few self-defense moves.
Who was his beloved? He was Daniel. That was all there was to his name. Simply Daniel.
While on the bus, Yeon Jin checked his phone. He hadn't received a single text from him yet and he smiled knowingly. Daniel would never text or call first unless it was urgent.
Yeon Jin didn't want to call him and wish him a happy birthday yet since that would only spoil the surprise. They were meeting up later and he didn't tell the purpose for their meeting.
Then, he suddenly remembered the expression Daniel had while gazing at him the last time they spent the night together. Yeon Jin was rambling on and on about how well he was doing in the ring and how much the coach complimented his pace when he met Daniel's eyes.
There was a certain expression in his deep dark violet eyes. They made him look like he was worrying and regretting at the same time. But they also had a sense of gladness and satisfaction. It was an expression he couldn't understand.
It gave him a weird feeling but Daniel quickly assured him that everything was okay. Following Daniel's words, Yeon Jin did not think too much of it and slept off.
But thinking about it now, he couldn't help but feel that the expression in his eyes meant something grave.
"I hope he didn't get himself involved in something he couldn't handle." He was worried and the bus stopped.
At the end of that very stressful and tiring day, Yeon Jin was finally going to be able to meet up with Daniel.
He went to the bridge where they usually met up and waited.
A cake in a box, a bouquet, and a silver key chain. All these were the perfect props when wishing a person a happy birthday and also confessing. Nothing could go wrong.
Yeon Jin sniffed the scent of the rose boutique and then, sited Daniel getting out of the car parked at the other end of the bridge.
"Daniel." He called out, waving his bouquet hand and Daniel turned to see him, causing him to smile warmly.
