Capítulo 15: Chapter 15 :

Nexus strolled through the alleys of the slums, lost in thought and cloaked in black.

He had seen everything the city had to offer, but things weren't looking good. "It seems like I need to perfect my plans," Nexus thought to himself as he continued on his way.

Little did he know, a sneaky figure was following him from about fifty meters behind. Nexus was so deep in thought that he didn't notice the figure trailing him.

Suddenly, Jade's voice broke through Nexus's thoughts. "Nexus, you're being followed."

Startledand muttered, "Someone's following me?" He kept walking, determined to find out who was stalking him.

"How did you know someone was following me anyway, Jade?" Nexus asked through their mental connection.

" I can sense and see everything fifty meters radius around you remember"

Nexus nodded in realization, he remembered that Jade told him about this.

As Nexus continued on, the figure in the black cloak followed closely behind, glancing around with shifty eyes. Nexus suddenly turned a corner, the figure panicked and ran after him, only to find a dead end.

A playful voice behind him asked, "Are you looking for me?" The figure spun around to see Nexus standing right there.

The mysterious figure in black was shocked to see Nexus suddenly appear behind him.

A puzzled expression crossed his face as he tried to figure out how Nexus had managed to sneak up on him when he was the one doing the following.

"How did you appear behind me?" the figure asked in amazement.

Nexus didn't respond, but instead studied the person in front of him. He appeared to be a young man with impressive cultivation skills, reaching the Eighth Layer of the Essence Meridian Realm.

Nexus was surprised by the level of power this guy possessed, even surpassing that of the nobles he had encountered before.

Without waiting for a reply, the figure in black grabbed a pair of crude black daggers and unleashed his cultivation, launching himself at Nexus with incredible speed. Despite his agility and quick movements, Nexus easily dodged each attack with a playful look in his eyes.

As the figure continued to attack, Nexus realized he fought like an assassin. Dodging each strike effortlessly, Nexus remained calm and composed, never moving from his spot but always managing to evade the black-clothed figure's attempts.

It was clear that Nexus was in complete control of the situation, effortlessly dodging every move thrown his way.

"Alright, it's time to put an end to this charade," Nexus declared. The figure dressed in black paused for a moment, then leaped a few feet away from Nexus, clearly puzzled by his words.

However, he was taken aback to see Nexus effortlessly dodging all of his attacks. Nexus locked eyes with the figure, his gaze shining from beneath his dark hood.

With a swift step forward, Nexus vanished from his spot the instant his foot touched the ground. The figure in black was stunned, witnessing Nexus disappear before his eyes and reappear beside him in a matter of seconds.

In a swift motion, Nexus grabbed the figure by the neck, effortlessly lifting him from the ground like a small chicken.

The mysterious figure in black started kicking his legs, and Nexus removed the hood to reveal a young face.

Nexus was surprised by how young the guy was - he looked about seventeen or eighteen with a pretty average appearance.

"Man, this guy is really young," Nexus thought to himself.

Nexus took another look at the young boy and let him go, causing him to fall to the ground gasping for breath. The boy looked up at Nexus with fear in his eyes, clearly terrified by Nexus's strength.

"Alright, kid, let me ask you a few questions. How long have you been following me?" Nexus asked lazily, eyeing the boy.

Still catching his breath, the boy answered with a shaky voice, "I've been following you since you came to the city from the slums area."

Nexus was shocked - this guy had been following him since he left the slums.

" Yes Nexus he has been following since you left the slums " Suddenly, Jade's voice echoed in his mind, confirming the boy's story.

Nexus was speechless. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked Jade.

"I thought he was just following for a few minutes and would leave," Jade replied coyly.

Nexus shook his head and turned back to the boy. "What's your name?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

"My name is Lexx, Lexx Emberbane," the boy - now known as Lexx - replied nervously, still afraid of Nexus and his quick takedown.

"Alright, Lexx, why were you following me?" Nexus asked, his eyes sharp as he looked down at Lexx sitting on the ground.

"Sir, please don't get the wrong idea. I steal to survive in this city, and when I saw you, I thought about stealing from you. I realized you were new here, so I had the thought of stealing from you," Lexx explained quickly.

"So you wanted to steal from me, huh?" Nexus said, narrowing his eyes even further. Lexx felt a chill run down his spine.

Nexus was taken aback as he observed the trembling figure before him.

After a moment of silence, he shook his head and posed the question once more, "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't end your life."

Lexx was stunned to hear Nexus wanted to kill him.

"Please, sir, spare me. I am willing to surrender all of my possessions to you," Lexx pleaded, his face drained of color, clearly gripped by fear.

Nexus found himself at a loss for words once again, observing the man on the verge of collapse. "Very well, I will spare you. However, I require a favor in return. If you fulfill this task to my satisfaction, I may consider not killing you," Nexus stated firmly, shaking his head.

"I will do whatever you ask, as long as you spare my life," Lexx agreed eagerly, nodding vigorously.

"Tomorrow, at this same time, meet me at this designated location. Do not attempt to flee, for I have marked you with a secret mark. I will be able to find you no matter where you go," Nexus warned, his eyes flashing with a hint of menace.

Terrified by the revelation of the secret mark, Lexx nodded in compliance. "Yes, sir, I will be there as instructed," he promised. At first he thought he could run off and won't come here again but hearing the function of this secret mark Lexx was terrified.

Satisfied with the outcome, Nexus dismissed Lexx with a wave of his hand.

As if he been granted amnesty Lexx quickly run off with incredible speed.

Nexus chuckled at his speed. With purposeful strides, Nexus continued on his path towards the courtyard.
