"Do not come near me," Minnie took a step back to get away from Nathaniel as he held the wood in his hands like he was going to do something to her.

Nathaniel always did as she told him which was why it came as a surprise to see him refusing her command. Minnie always knew he wanted to be a good father but her dreams came before everything else. Nathaniel wasn't in the dark that she would one day want to use his children if they showed signs of being a witch. 

Perhaps, Nathaniel had been secretly praying his children would be normal.

"What are you doing?" Rachel questioned as she believed her husband was joking and taking things too far. For many years she told Nathaniel they should get rid of Minnie and after all of her failed attempts, Rachel did not see this to be the moment he finally woke up.
