Lady Fiona was alone in her thoughts, feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders as she tried to figure out how to handle her son's mistake.

She whispered the word "power" softly, feeling its weight on her tongue. She felt her brows draw together as she mulled over what Pierce had said.

'Power—It was something she had never considered wanting. She had a bountiful life and had always been satisfied with what she had been given. Why would her son think she desired such a thing as this?'

Fiona held her hand over her mouth, continuing to contemplate his irrational words.

'You say this was all done for power, but for whom? If it was for me, then you are mistaken about what I want. If it was for your father, then you are also wrong. He abhors it and prefers to stay on sides quietly watching. So, the only advantage I see in this, Pierce, is for you.'
