Indulging in another long sip of the brandy, Christopher felt a sense of calm and warmth come over his ragged nerves. His next question to Rose was sensitive and he would offer Rose the option of answering. 

As he exhaled deeply, the Lord stared at her with shaking eyes. 

"I know this might be a difficult question for you to answer, so if you don't want to answer I understand. What made you recoil from me tonight in the bath? Did you really think I would strike you, and who hit you to make you react like that?"
