Capítulo 26: Chapter 25 Escape

My mouth went dry and the fear started to set in gradually. I don't have a solid plan to go against this menace. I was hoping I could escape with sheer dumb luck. If I only could outsmart him and run away. I believe this was the one chance god gave me.

Whatever that was in that vile was designed to kill him specifically. At least that's what I thought. But Eden never mentioned that it would work.

I watched with utmost horror and fascination as he started to change right in front of my eyes.

His pale silver hair slowly turned dark as night and his otherworldly aura weakened ever so slightly.

He started to look more...human than I'd ever seen him before.

He laughed. The sound was cold and cruel echoing in my soul.

"So this is how they planned to stop me."

I wished his hands didn't tighten on my hips the way they just did.

"You're dying. let me go. It's over." I gritted out. I wasn't sure if he was dying but I hoped he was. His dark green eyes turned smokey gray and they looked like the ancient bottomless pits of hell. What's happening to him?

"I cannot be killed." One of his hands curled around my throat. I swallowed.

"But I do admit this has weakened me. Only because it's designed to turn my body mortal."

He then leans in and whispers into my ears.

"But that still won't stop me. I'm eternal. I'm fate. your world will die in my hands." I blanched and struggled against his hold.

"This won't end well for you." He growled.

"What do you want from me!" My shout echoed throughout the room. He responded by lifting me by the neck and pinning me against the nearest wall. Despite turning human his body was so large that he loomed over me without trying. His grey-black eyes burned into me as his body surrounded and hovered over mine, I felt a little overwhelmed. His hand came up and stroked my hair, wrapping the ends around two of his fingers.

"I do not know why your miserable human existence intrigued me. I should end you here." His gray eyes were emotionless as he said those words. Yet, I could sense his anger underneath the surface. He means what he says.

I steeled my resolve hoping he'll make my death quick and painless. But I seriously doubt he would give me that kind of mercy. The mark he left on my neck throbbed and hummed unnaturally making me wince in pain and a morbid type of pleasure. Of course, he did something to me. I feel it in my bones.

yet somewhere deep down I knew I was going to die and maybe it will be a type of liberation from him. Azreal read into my eyes intently and slowly brushed his nose against my right cheek. Nuzzling. It took a moment for me to realize that my cheeks were wet with tears. I could feel him brimming with killing intent as he gripped my neck despite him being affectionate.

"I believe this has gone on long enough." A gruff voice echoed through the lab and my body visibly tensed. Azreal noticed and his grip tightened in response. he didn't bother to look behind.

"Prince of Zakaeri. How strange. It's not like you to come aid a human."

Ragnar had a glowing piece of metal aimed at Azreal. It was their version of a gun.

I opened my mouth to call out for help but the words were mangled and inaudible.

"Oh do not be mistaken. We both know what she is. Im not here to save anyone." Ragnar replied in his native alien language.

There was a flash and it took me seconds to realize that Ragnar pointed the gun straight at me. Of course, I anticipated this. even though he helped me before doesn't mean he didn't have ulterior motives.

My heart paused as a bullet of light flew straight at me. The true surprise hit me when Azreal blocked the attack with his shoulder, splattering blood on my face and neck.

my eyes widened. why would he save me? he was going to kill me a few seconds ago.

There were footsteps followed by armed Zakarian's marching into the room.

So this was an elaborate trap.

Another soldier pointed a weapon at us and the very next second Azreal pulled us both to the side. A massive crater pierced the wall by which I stood mere seconds ago.

My blood chilled at the sight. Azreal carried me up with his uninjured arm. "You're punishment will have to wait for now." He whispered into my ear.

"But trust me once we are out of here you're going to wish you never made it out alive."
