What matters is that we recognize each role and work together."
He then announced three tiers of progression: Ember Sparks, those newly initiated to the Ember Blade Style; Ember Flames, those who had mastered fundamental techniques and demonstrated steady improvement; and Ember Blazes, the elite who could teach, lead squads, and handle complex missions. The crowd listened intently, some nodding in agreement, others casting hopeful glances. Earning a higher rank would be a sign of respect, a testament to one's perseverance.
To illustrate, he called Kael forward. Once a lone scholar-warrior, Kael now embodied the teachings of the Ember Blade Style. With a respectful bow, Lyrus named him an Ember Blaze, acknowledging his wisdom, loyalty, and martial skill. Alyra joined Kael, her mastery with the bow and calm under pressure making her an obvious choice. A handful of other seasoned fighters followed, each receiving a slender ember-red sash to wear as a symbol of their status.
New Ember Sparks straightened their spines, determined to one day earn a sash of their own. Ember Flames sized up their peers, eager to refine their abilities and climb higher. The Ember Blazes exchanged measured nods, accepting their new responsibilities without arrogance. They understood that leadership here meant service—teaching, protecting, and inspiring others.
By the time Lyrus finished, the camp buzzed with focused energy. The hierarchy did not stifle them; it clarified their paths forward. Under Lyrus' unspoken promise that effort would be rewarded and skill recognized, they felt a renewed sense of purpose.
