Vladimir:

I sat in my office lost in my thoughts.

The day was not going as I had planned for it to go. I wanted to speak to Audrey. I wanted her to get out of her pain, but it seemed to me that I was losing things just as I was trying to fix them.

The door was knocked, taking me off guard, and though I should have caught my mother's scent, I was too busy with my thoughts to do so.

"Come in." I called, getting up from my desk.

She walks inside the office carrying a tray that had two cups of coffee. I smiled and walked toward her, taking the tray from her and setting it on the coffee table that I had in my office.

She stood one step back and I walked toward her, cupping her cheeks and kissing her forehead.

"To what do I owe the honor?" I asked, making her laugh.
