'It seems my bosses have finally had enough with me sparing my targets and made me a target instead... Oh well, it was a good run... Least my family gets compensation for my death. It was what? Half a million if I were to die per the contract?' I think to myself as I sit on a chair here in some dark room gagged and bound to said chair by some ropes on my hands and legs.
'Still, who would've thought there was a secret organization that had the same name from a certain movie about some guy getting revenge for his dog- Oh shit, he's here.'
My musings were cut short as the door to the room(?) I was being held in is opened and walked in slowly, for dramatic effect probably, a fancy looking schmuck in a suit who flipped the switch near the door to turn on the lights and then stood behind the table infront of me. Said schmuck is my best friend-turned executioner, a Harbinger by the name of Alan Graves.
"How you do anything, is how you do everything..." says the wannabe Bond villain. "Failure after failure..." He continued as he circled me, keeping a stoic professional face on, though most likely he's distraught inside or laughing bitterly. "Did you really think the Elder wouldn't notice you sparing your assigned targets instead of doing as you were ordered?"
He then brings out an almost empty hour glass from his coat, typical, and sets it on the table. "The sand in that glass is just an echo of His remaining patience." He continues, 'His' probably referring to the Elder.
He then pulls out from his holster behind him a black S&W 29-6 .44 caliber Magnum with gold engravings and the logo of the Table engraved in white on the handle, distinct with their (edgy) catchphrase, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" meaning "If you want peace, prepare for war." He then walked behind me, removed my gag, and pushed the fancy gun against the back of my head.
"The Table has deemed thee disposable; you are hence forth forfeit of your life. Although you have failed numerous missions, your family will still receive compensation for your death as per the contract you signed when you joined. Farewell, sir Aiden Hansen. If you have any remaining last words or wishesfor yourself or for your family then you may say them."
"Yeah, I got one last request for you, Harbinger. Say my goddamn name." I say while trying not to smile, and although I can't see his face, I bet he's confused or inwardly laughing at the reference.
"I beg your pardon?" He says, trying to be professional.
"Say it." I say sternly, although he's my executioner right now, can't stop me from having my last bit of fun banter with my best friend.
He chuckles and loosens his press of the gun against the back of my head, "Fine, Heisenberg. Tried acting professional but, it seems I still have to do this as your friend."
I smile at that, and with a bit of hoarseness in my voice, say "Alright, seriously now. There's a letter under the drawers back at my apartment in the 10th arrondissement near the Gare de l'Est, you know which one, send it to my family back home. Even though I saw this coming, it's still a bit unfair in my book."
At that, he firmly presses the .44 Magnum against my head again and cocks it. "Such is life, Aiden, and I'll be sure to send that letter to your family, Heisenberg." He says, while most certainly grinning bitterly even though I can't see his face.
"Awa 'n bile yer heid ya cun-"
BANG
My body felt cold, and my head hung down limply, it's a miracle my head is even still intact after being shot by .44 Magnum. 'sigh, looks like I ain't coming back home for Christmas. Wish I could have finished watching Breaking Bad or played Cyberpunk, and...' With the hole in the back of my head oozing a bit of brain matter out, I couldn't continue my thoughts anymore and succumbed to the darkness.

Some alleyway

MC POV
"What the hell is that stench-? The hell?" I think out loud and exclaim in surprise as I notice I was laying down in a puddle of water in an alleyway with some garbage strewn around and decided to stand up.
"Pretty sure I died... Is this some sort of glitch in the matrix or is it the infamous 'isekai' phenomena? As dumb as it sounds isekai may be the right one... or time travel." I mused to myself before deciding to check myself out. As I do so, I notice that I'm wearing my black tactical jacket with a white tanktop underneath, grey cargo pants, and black combat boots. I also noticed in my pocket was my wallet with some cash US dollars, my ID, and bank cards and strapped to my leg was a tactical knife. The same stuff I had on me when I died.
"Stuff here's the same ones I had on me when I... died. Shit, if I did die where am I right now then? Or when? Hope my family's safe and Alan kept his word... First things first let's get out of this shitty(literally) alley." I mutter to myself as I decide to look for a way out of the alley. I then notice sunlgiht coming ahead from a corner and decide to walk towards it, which did lead out of the alleyway. Only problem is...
"Am I in Tokyo right now...?" I ask myself as infront of me was a street with a bunch of stores and signs with writing in japanese and a giant billboard advertising random products.
