"Nothing." Ilyan concealed the way he had been slightly unsettled with her disappearance from his sight for the last couple of minutes. "Let's get the tests done."

The duo spent the next hour with Irene undergoing the prescribed tests and Ilyan patiently waiting on one of the hospital benches. Once she was done with every single one of them, she insisted on grabbing something to eat from the hospital canteen. Ilyan had almost agreed when a doubt crossed his mind.

"Can you hold on for a minute? I'll confirm from the doctor if you can eat."

Irene facepalmed herself but knowing that he was not going to listen to her even if she said it was not needed, she gave up without even trying. Her hand gestured to him to go ahead and he was out of her sight within seconds, leaving her heaving a sigh.
