Capítulo 37: What Comes Next

As my conscience slowly came to, I opened my eyes and saw my beloved Shirayaa right next to me, hugging and coiling around me.

I felt warm as she did so, and nuzzled my face against hers, accidentally waking her up.

"Mmm~" She groaned in a sleepy manner.

I giggled slightly and gently kissed her lips, not in a sexual way of course, as I had let out enough of that last night, as did she.

Remember what we did last night made me blush a little bit as I kept on kissing her with my love.

She woke up shortly after and was confused by my actions but leaned into the kiss without question. When our lips parted, with a string of saliva connecting them, we stared at each other, slowly turning redder as we remembered what we did last night.

All of a sudden, we started giggling like children, which then turned into a joyous and boisterous laughter.

When we finished laughing, we sat up and leaned against one another, our tails still wrapping around each other.

We enjoyed the quiet and serene moment before I spoke.

"I love you."

"I love you too." She replied.

It wasn't much, but we could feel the unrestrained feeling that were conveyed with those words alone.

Some time passed and we just sat there, occasionally giving each other a kiss here and there, nothing more.

I then looked over at the entrance to the cave and my mood instantly plummeted. Sensing this, Shirayaa looked at me, then at the wall she made, and her mood also fell.

"What now?" She asked.

"We try to move forward I guess." I replied.

I sighed, knowing that this was going to be a very, very arduous journey, made extremely difficult due to the excessively cold temperatures, which was a force of nature that acted against our kind.

"Should we see if the blizzard has stopped?" Shirayaa asked.

I nodded and got up, heading over to the wall. Thankfully, the holes that were left in the stone wall were left uncovered, so we could both, see and hear that the blizzard had stopped, or at least calmed down.

Shirayaa came over and looked at me. I nodded, telling her to take down the wall.

She did so with ease and some snow that had piled up overnight fell into the small cave that she had made for us to rest.

We pushed through the snow mound and made our way outside, only to be greeted with a scene that we would never forget for the rest of our lives.

Mountains several times taller that the tallest of dunes covered in a fresh layer of snow that glistened in the morning sunlight. That's when we realised that there was a sun, so we could finally tell the time.

Below the mountain's peaks, there was a lush green forest that was blanketed by the same snow as the peaks, the dark green hue of the leaves on the trees contrasting the snow that laid atop them.

And in the far-off distance, a shining pillar of golden light lit up the whole forest along with the mountain range.

Its magnificence was indescribable as it reached high up into the sky and beyond, penetrating into space.

We stared in awe and wonder at the sight before us, taking in the beauty of the landscape before us.

It took us a while to get it together and zone ourselves back in, and begin the trek towards the huge, towering golden pillar of light, which we assumed to be the exit and our way out of here.

We had been travelling in this snowy wasteland for a few days now and figured a few things out. One, was that the blizzard only comes at night and stops as the sun rises. Two, was that there ware no other forms of life, besides us and the trees, no animals like predators and prey, nothing.

Because there was no wildlife, we had been running out of proper energy because of the lack of meat that would normally come from them, which is understandable as I don't know how many species out there would actually be able to withstand the constant change in the weather.

We had made our way down to the base of the mountain that we were situated on top of when we appeared in this place, and now realised that the treed were about two or three times the size compared to what they looked like from above, although that may just be the perspective from which we viewed them from.

About a week went by and we were really starting to feel the effects of hunger. Yes, we may consume one another's sperm in large doses a couple of times on any given day, but that isn't exactly a great source of food or energy. We needed real meat, and the only real meat we could find was each other, but we wouldn't ever do such a thing.

Also, because of the lack of any form of existence her besides the two of us, it was really creepy here, and I could swear that we were being watched, but Shirayaa dismissed it as me being paranoid, but I still couldn't shake the feeling that someone, or something, was watching us, or more specifically, me.

That night we set up camp in another hole inside of a mountain wall, courtesy of Shirayaa, and locked ourselves up, preventing us from getting cold and having the instinct of hibernating, as we both knew that would lead to our deaths.

As we sat around a small fire that I had made we didn't say anything as we had already talked about everything we possibly could. Well, almost everything.

"Do you think we'll be able to get to the pillar before we starve to death." I asked in a grim tone, as the light never seemed to get closer, no matter how much we traversed this forsaken land.

"I don't know… at this point, I think we'll starve before we even reach ten percent of the way there, so much for spending the rest of our lives together, we don't have much life left at this rate." She said dejectedly.

I looked into the fire with a lifeless gaze, not knowing if we'd be able to get out of here or not, still, at least I'd die with the woman I love, and maybe reunite with my parents. Maybe.

"How much longer do you think we'll last out here?" She asked.

"Another few weeks at best, a few days at worst." I responded.

"Hmm… Well, at least we'll be spending our last days with the one we love right." She said with a heavy smile on her face.

"Yeah." Was all I said in response, a smile on my own tired face.

We then made out for a while, just kissing and stuff, no sex as we were too tired to do such things, before cuddling and coiling up together and falling asleep in each other's embrace.
