Capítulo 1: Over the Dunes

In a scorching desert made from large dunes of golden sands, the wind blows a layer of dust across the endless sea of the desert sands.

Somewhere across this landscape made from nothing but dust and dirt, a serpent slithers across it, leaving a divide in the sand as her four and a half metre long tail passed. Her scales a slightly pale shade of Scarlet, which seemed dull even in the blazing sunlight which shines across the surface of the desert, giving off an annoying glare if you dare to look down towards the ground. Beneath her scales and inside her flesh a low and hungering growl is heard.

"Huhh... I really need to find something to eat."

Her Alluring and youthful voice that would charm many is laced with slight desperation for not being able to find anything to sustain her large body and appetite.

As the winds blow past her, her crimson hair slowly sways back and forth, looking rather dry and somewhat stale due to the hot and arid atmosphere she was in. Her pure white skin also looking a little malnourished also, and as she stares out into the distance and across the horizon through her slitted Golden irises as her sclera is strained with red veins from the blindingly bright light of the sun in the clear sky.

"Haahhhh.... My throat is dry again."

She raises one of her long, slim and slender arms up, placing her claw tipped hand over her now partially raised head and opening her fanged mouth and channelling her inner power and summons fresh water from thin air using the mystical energy known as magic.

*Gulp* *Gulp* *Gulp*

"Aahhh, that was refreshing... I'm still hungry though..."

As she slithers across the perpetual and never-ending dunes, she looks down at the pendant hanging down from her neck, given to her by her mother, and the ring on her left ring finger, her father's last gift to her, and thinks to herself about the past, about her mother, her father, her one and only friend. Tears start to flow from her eyes as she remembers the ones that she cares about who are now gone from this world.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

As the memories of the horrid tragedies of the past long gone start to resurface in her mind, tearing her mind apart into a spiral of depression. Suddenly her long and sharp ears twitch slightly as they manage to pick something up off in the distance.

"Hmm?"

Her hunger makes her forget her sorrows momentarily as another growl comes from within, her mouth salivating at the prospect of possibly eating after an unknown amount of time. She focuses her senses on her hearing to try and locate the source of the sound.

...

...

...

Ears twitch as the sound reaches her again. Looking towards the left, her mouth salivates as her body unconsciously begins to move in that direction, and as she does so she hears the sound again and identifies it as some sort of avian cry for... help? It was too hard to tell at this distance.

As the distance is closed the cries of the bird could be heard more clearly, allowing the young serpentine girl to identify it as a desert sparrow.

Her stomach growls more fiercely as she believes she has caught a rather tantalizing prey, perhaps one large enough to satiate her for a long while. As she and the opposing avian creature slowly draw near one another the faint cry of help can be heard.

"HELP! SOMEONE! ANYONE!"

A feminine voice screams out in distress and anxiety. Beneath the sound of this girls screams and the cry of the bird, something else can be heard, buried underneath the sands, a creature of giant proportions moving beneath the earth.

The serpentine girls remembers this creature as a Burrowing Sand Worm, a creature that can be at least five times herself. Her heartbeat slowly rises as she trembles slightly in fear as the creature might eat her too, but she was too hungry to care about such things as she moved forwards towards the thing running away from the Sand Worm.

Soon the cries of terror can be heard as if they were standing right next to one another.

'So close... food... soon...'

As the young girl races the top of one of the many dunes, she sees a girl flying over the top of the sands. The birdlike girl sees the snakelike girl and starts crying tears of joy at the sight of someone else in this endless terrain.

"PLEASE! HELP ME!"

*Rumble*

The ground trembles as the Sand Worm, which despite being called a worm had an upper body similar to a human with two pairs of arms coming off of its sides, surfaces not far behind the bird girl. She looks back and screams in absolute terror.

"HHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!"

The bird girl shrieks in absolute terror, fainting due to being overstimulated with fear. Being unconscious, she starts plummeting towards the ground and lands right in front of the serpent, splashing sand against her, her heartbeat rising in trepidation as she looks up at the huge Sand Worm that was looking down upon her from its face that looked like it was coming out of its neck with a razor-sharp toothed mouth that went across its face.

*GROOOWLL*

This time it was not the little girls stomach growling but the worm trying to intimidate her away from its prey. The little snake felt the fear in her heart and mind rising as she remembered every other time she encountered such a situation, where she either had to run away or give up her prey to something like the thing before her.

She felt tired of running, tired of giving up, tired of starving. She hadn't eaten in weeks, maybe even months, and she was tired of it all. In that moment, all that fear suddenly transforms into a mass of rage that came from the depths of her very soul, empowering her very existence, allowing her to do something she never thought possible and overcome this trial that made its way into her life.

"SSSSSHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"

The young serpentine girl lets out a cry filled with all of her hate and anguish towards the beast, unleashing a power hidden to herself, now unleashed upon the world.

As an aura of an ancient power once lost explodes from within her, as a dark red phantom like fog that spiralled into the sky, far above the worm, pressuring it to slowly back away. The girl stares at the worm, her gaze fierce and unfaltering.

"Leave."

She says one word, which causes the aura around her to surge once, scaring the Sand Worm away,

"Sshhhaaaaaaa..."

The creature hissed at the small serpentine girl as it slowly backed away from her, eventually retreating and heading off into the distance, presumably back to its territory.

Her aura recedes as she realises what she has just done, her heart pounding with adrenaline.

"Hahh... Hahh... Hahh... Haha... Hahahaha! I did it! I DID IT! WOOO!"

The snake girl started crying tears of joy as she celebrated the fact that she actually managed to scare that thing off, something she never thought she could actually do. As she finished celebrating, she looked down at the unconscious prey lying beneath her.

PENSAMENTOS DOS CRIADORES
Wyvers Wyvers

Hello! Author here! This is my first time writing something "Properly" I have written stuff in the past but most of that never really went anywhere and has stayed with me.

THIS on the other hand has always been in the back of my mind, lurking, just being there, and finally, i have done something with it!

Thanks for reading, feel free to give me any thoughts or advice or point out any mistakes you saw and hopefully, I'll make more! With better qaulity. Or not.

Being completely honest here, I only wrote this on a whim but it has actually helped me out a lot, just writing this one chapter. My mental health has improved even with just this, so to anyone out there who is in a similar situation where they have dark thoughts but mixed with creativity, just make it! It will help you shave off a layer or two of said darkness, I can attest to it!

Anyways, I know this is kind of all over the place but hey, this is the "Author's Thoughts" section, so I'll write what I'm thinking. Have a nice day and enjoy the works on this site!
