Capítulo 24: Silent Struggles: The Battle Within

…over the next few days, I sat beside him and we reminisced about old times. He spoke a lot about how young he was when he took over the company from my great-grandpa. Then, I thought the stories he was telling me were to pass the time but it was deliberate. 

"Your mother was beautiful but she didn't belong to the kind of life Carlisle brought her into. I wanted to see her adapt but time took her away," he said. It was one of the few times he spoke about my mother.

She did not belong to that kind of life. It made me question the kind of life we are supposed to live and I wanted to elaborate about why my mother did not fit in. But he was already talking about another thing. 

"Your father loves you. But bitterness has run deep into his mind. I hope he sees what I see one day." I hope he gets the fuck out of my life. But of course, I didn't say that, I just nodded for him to continue.
