When Mila finally made it home, she was a wreck. Leo was waiting for her at the door like usual with a more somber expression than she had ever seen from his human face. He immediately wrapped her in his arms.
"Are you okay, Mila?"
"No," she managed to get out in a tiny voice before breaking down sobbing again.
"It's okay," Leo said soothingly. "I've got you. Cry all you need to. Go ahead and tell me what happened if you want to but if you don't, that's okay too."
He led her over to the couch and wrapped her in the softest blanket she owned. Something she always did when she was sad no matter how hot or cold it was outside. Once she was thoroughly cocooned, he startled her slightly by picking her up and setting her on his lap.
